Yes this is what my friend told me. He said they are still always packed. He said this restaurant is probably more popular than Don Julio now. He told me it's the same owner now.

This is true. Still need a reservation but you can get in much easier now. I came here last week and booked the day before. I talked to the hostess and asked if they were slower and she told me they are still busy but not like last year. Seems everyone is a little bit slower. The food here is very good. Good for a special occasion. Brought my friend in town and this is her favorite place.

Yes even with the high prices this is a very busy restaurant. It's one of my favorites.
True. The portion is big but I have eaten it all before when I was really hungry. This place has gotten expensive but it's a favorite of locals and also always a lot of tourists in it.
Like many, I believe the peso is overvalued. It will be interesting to see what happens with the peso in 2025. Posted this today on X.
Yes!!! It is shocking what this place is charging. It used to be a typical nice neighborhood restaurant and then the owner of Don Julio bought it. Now it is beyond my price range. 🙁

This place I think is still the best Milenesa in town.
Yes, it's touristy but still my favorite Milanesa in Buenos Aires. Pricey at 40,700 pesos ($34 USD) for a Milanesa or they have a bigger portion for 2 people at 71,100 pesos ($60 USD). But they had a great lunch special which included their delicious bread with olive oil and a small tomato, Faina with provolone, roasted pepper, Milanesa de bife de chorizo, French fries, carpaccio tomato and 3 cups of different flavored ice cream for 2 people. It was 107,100 for the lunch special for 2 which was a great deal.
You can go back in this thread and see the inflation from last year. Went from 41,010 pesos for the Milanesa for 2 people to 71,100 pesos all in the span of 1 year.
$107.37 USD before tip. And you can't leave the tip on your credit card here. I thought they were going to roll out that tip on card plan and the beginning of the trip I was having more luck but last several only in cash.

Definitely pricey but I remember the portions being generous. I didn't realize it but this was my first stop when I came to BA. Before I took my first bite there was a homeless guy asking if I could help him out. I shoo'd him away and afterwards I wished I hadn't and should have shared some of it with him as I finished a little more than half and ended up tossing the rest. Good food, though I remember being surprised that they didn't have ketchup for my fries.

Yes true that prices jumped up once it changed ownership. That was sad as I went more when it was more affordable.
Before the only portion they had was for 2 people. I don't think they gave an option for only 1. But then it was only around 20,000 for two portions. Now there is still that option but it's over 70,000 last time I went. But they added a portion for only 1 but it's more than the portion for 2 from before. Funny how that works.
If you get the portion for 1 it is not that big now. The homeless will definitely accept food. Especially from El Preferido! That is a gourmet meal for them. Yes they do have ketchup for fries. It is just last year there was a shortage but most of the places I have gone have it. My cousin was just here a few weeks ago and she said it was homemade. @earlyretirement do you know from your experience?

Correct. They changed the menu to give an option for 1 now. The portion for one is now priced more than what it used to be for 2 not too long ago. Yes, there was a shortage of ketchup last year but they did have their own homemade ketchup there yesterday. And it was good too. But no mayo.
