Newcomer Good starting point for a walk

I walk over 10k steps a day and my favourite of all time would be, start where calle Florida begins, walk to the intersection of Florida and Corrientes, along Corrientes to the intersection with Pueyyredon, to the intersection of Pueyyredon y Santa Fe, then back to wherever you live

Favorite neighborhoods for Expats to live in Buenos Aires? With the best vibe and characteristics for me?

You are going to see so much dog poop you will never believe it, and not in neat little piles either, but smeared down the street for metres and metres as a reminder of the brave souls who came before you and stepped in it, Get ready for a complete breakdown, start making down payments at your...

Favorite neighborhoods for Expats to live in Buenos Aires? With the best vibe and characteristics for me?

Puerto Madero you may as well just stay home San Telmo is the dingy dirtiest suburb on your list if you are worried about dog sh*t you won't make it there especially if the economy gets worse Recoleta is your answer

People rarely report robberies to the police. Police sometimes are worse than the criminals

I came to Argentina the first time in 2003. First thing I was told by my new Argy friends "never ever talk to the police. You get robbed at gunpoint in your own apartment? DO NOT talk to the police" As someone from a 'western' country this was one of the hardest things to wrap my head around

Newcomer Does anyone want to define the true meaning of Peronism?

Shallow. Today people love Evita because she had blonde hair, a cute nickname (same as Ernesto "che" Guevera and Madonna made a Hollwood movie about her There was a useful idiot at a Hamas rally in Londonistan a few days ago with a sign saying "support the infitada." When questioned by a...

Other possible towns in Argentina for digital nomad to live that doesn't have issues?

There are still many insanely cheap things here, I just ate a massive and delicious (soft yummy bread) and thick juicy chicken from KFC for a staggering 4300 pesos. The exact same meal in the US at current exchange rates is about 14000 pesos. Living here is still an incredible bargain if you...

Extending a Tourist Visa in Buenos Aires to be a permanent-tourist in Argentina

The idea that Argentina is racist against "brown" people is a joke. Yeah free university and government benefits so racist omg Go to hell race baiters the time is coming where white peoples taxes won't be able to fund your handouts anymore then you will find out how hard life actually is

Extending a Tourist Visa in Buenos Aires to be a permanent-tourist in Argentina

You can't do a visa run and then get a 90 day extension at migrations. They won't extend your visa if it puts you over 180 days for the last year because that is supposed to be the limit. You are supposed to do the 90 day extension first and then later do visa runs if you want to risk it...

Newcomer What kind of tourist hates Buenos Aires?

There are aspects of Buenos Aires I despise like the supermarket. It is painful how slow everybody is, there can be just a couple of people in front of you with a few items each and it still takes 20 minutes. What makes me more furious is how accepting of it everyone is, like life is so...

Newcomer If I can only choose one, which is better: Santiago or Buenos Aires?

What would they do in Santiago for 2 or 3 days? Visit the Palacio de Moneda not bad I guess, that nice church in Plaza de Armas then the super high Costonara building. All fairly boring attractions that would take maybe 2 hours by taxi. Visiting Santiago is a pointless exercise unless you...

I've lived in both and I can tell you Buenos Aires x 10000 % If you are from the USA just go to any boring crappy mid sized city with no culture and ugly miserable people if you want the Santiago experience

Western Union gave me $500 USD in 100 peso bills

Yes I should have refused but by the time I realised what was happening the transaction was already processed Time to go to carrefour and do some shopping with my enormous stacks of 100s. I feel like a much poorer version of Pablo Escobar

The lady at the counter said we only have 100s is that OK? But I wasn't paying attention and thought she meant 1000s so I said fine Next minute she pulls out these enormous sacks of cash and I had to fill my entire backpack and a large shopping bag. Wtf.. Anyone know If I take it into a bank...
