Politics Thread: President Javier Milei - Decree of Necessity and Urgency (DNU) in real-time

This isn't just one sided. This should also give some protections and peace of mind to the renters as well as before they were just extended contracts informally either verbally or just informal contracts. They can have formal contracts now. Only the owner is in control as they can set...

Argentina Rentista Visa for 2024? What is the minimum income now for retirement visa for Argentina?

This is great! Thanks for taking the time to post these options. A few of the names sound familiar. I was reading online that it's possible to apply for citizenship for Argentina immediately right after getting here without going through the Pensionista temporary visa process. I believe that...

Politics Some Catholics support Argentina's Milei — even after critical pope comments

Interesting even Catholics still side with Milei after his comments. I think Catholics are finally starting to wise up on what a racket the Vatican is. https://www.ncronline.org/news/news/some-catholics-support-argentinas-milei-even-after-critical-pope-comments

U.S. Embassy Buenos Aires, Argentina - Demonstration Alert: December 20, 2023

Yes, I read about the no more welfare if they block roads. Does anyone know where the main protest area is? I read the general area but there must be some game plan to all congregate that won't block roads?

Food & Drink Pizza Restaurants in Buenos Aires - What are some of your favorite pizza places in Buenos Aires, Argentina?

I saw this place, Pizzeria La Mezzetta on Netflix's Someone Feed Phil so I went. The cheesy fugazzetta pizza did not disappoint! This is a very old-school joint. The only thing I didn't like is they didn't have napkins. Netflix...

Newcomer Will the locals in Buenos Aires turn on expats or foreigners if the economy gets very bad with hyperinflation

I saw that and laughed as well. Imagine going to a judge and saying, I post as Ronnie Hotdogs on the old forum. And someone is posting as Bobbie Burgers on the new forum. Please copyright my post that I posted to help people on Buenos Aires. Then the judge says, "but you can't sign your...

Newcomer Life in Buenos Aires after 1 month of living here as an expat

Thanks for posting an update. Often times we never end up hearing how things turn out. It sounds like a blessing in disguise. Many locals act like that!

Newcomer Life in Buenos Aires after 1 month of living here as an expat

Wow, $1,700 dollars a month? That seems like a lot of money to prepay up front. Can you share some details? I don't expect you to share exact location but what neighborhood is this in? How many bedrooms and bathrooms? How many sq. meters? General location? I'm tired of this Airbnb moving...

Banking Actual money exchange house (cueva) vs. prices quoted on financial websites

The online websites displayed rates of 905 and 925 in the morning. However, my local currency exchange (cueva) offered a rate at 905. Later in the afternoon, the rates further decreased to 890 and 910. I can't help but think it will go back up over 1,000 to $1 soon.

Is the Expat party in Buenos Aires coming to an end?

If she's facing a $53,000 new roof assessment, her condo's value is probably substantial enough for her to potentially arrange a home equity solution to cover this expense without impacting her existing cash flow. The ongoing appreciation of her condo could likely counterbalance that $53,000...

Is the Expat party in Buenos Aires coming to an end?

Whether someone finds happiness living in one place versus another is influenced by various personal factors and individual preferences. When you sought information on affording life in the US with a low income, including a $1500/month budget, I provided an extensive list of benefits that could...
