Is it normal for a property owner to insist on buyers to pay with CASH $100 US Dollar bills for an apartment purchase in Buenos Aires?

Hey said that the dollar blue is NOT illegal because is the only way for people to avoid 'cepo cambiario'. He also said that he doesn't care if people have undeclared savings worth 50K, 500K or 5 million US$. He wants people to use them to re-activate the economy.

Argentina Unveiled Mandatory Registry For Bitcoin And Crypto Platforms

I don't think, given the economic situation, that govt could reduce taxes now... it's like Simcity: if you lower the taxes too much at the beginning you end up bankrupt, you need economical grow first. Let's wait a couple of years, you can't undo 100 years of bad economic practices in 100 days.

Is it normal for a property owner to insist on buyers to pay with CASH $100 US Dollar bills for an apartment purchase in Buenos Aires?

They have their reasons, mainly they can't get an international wire to Argentina. The limit is 12K US$ per year so there's no way to do it through local banking, Also in 2001 all US$ bank savings from people were converted to pesos... a scam by the government. Even if Milei removes the 'cepo'...

Paying for real estate in Buenos Aires with Bitcoin or crypto?

It's crazy but it's not because locals want it that way: it is the result of past governments restrictions (cepo cambiario) on US$ purchasing and international wire transfers that led locals to just keep the US$ in their homes. That being said, governments and banks anywhere in the world don't...

    Be careful guys.....

In Colombia targets are men, specially the 'passport bros' otherwise you will be fine, I would just avoid partying at long hours of the night like you would do in BA.

Food & Drink Does anyone else notice their coffee recently not tasting good?

It's rare, but in Colombia this would happen to you if you are a heavy partier, get into drugs and stuff. I'm Argentinean but been living in Bogota for more than a year and never had any issue. And in BA is pretty rare... going to bars late at night in touristy neighborhoods is safe.

Problem with Medellin and Cartagena is the sex tourism, specially if you get a date on Tinder or get wasted at long hours of the night someone could put something in your drink.... If you like the beach you can go to chill places like Santa Marta. If you like city night life then Bogota is good.

Flat & White is also good: https://flatnwhite.com/argentina/ Indeed, this also happens in Colombia: Juan Valdez sells their espresso in plastic cups and you'll get the worst of coffees in traditional 'Panaderias'. So I always look for 'specialty coffee' places. More here...
