Newcomer Bringing Two Laptops to Buenos Aires – Any Issues at Customs?

Not to hijack the thread but, what's the deal with bringing a PC with me? I would like to bring a mini-computer, keyboard and mouse, and find a monitor when I get there (the monitor would never survive the trip). It's clearly not a new rig. Will I be okay with that?

Politics Thread: President Javier Milei - From Decree of Necessity and Urgency (DNU) to Today

IDK. But it's not to keep people out, it's to funnel people through a checkpoint. Replacing a low fence smugglers currently just hop over.

Politics Thread: President Javier Milei - From Decree of Necessity and Urgency (DNU) to Today

A bit of a difference between 200 meters of wall and 4000 kilometers of wall. I just saw a video clip of some Bolivian drug runners there, blaming Argentina for not giving them jobs...I'd fence them out, too

Argentinean section @ market in Cincinnati

From what I've seen mate in the US is pretty much limited to prepared/bottled, or as an ingredient in energy drinks. I'd love to get some loose leaf mate just to try it, but no stores around me sell it.

New Year, new life: Chinatown in Buenos Aires and its updated gastronomic circuit

I am hoping to try the ramen place. Surely "super super picante" will be a bit hot?

Inflation Is Falling, But Argentines 'Are Not Yet Better Off': Milei's Gamble Under Fire

I keep hearing "prices are the same or more than the USA". I'm wondering when was the last time those people bought something in the USA? From what I've seen, a few items like consumer electronics that have to be imported, are expensive. But how many people in Argentina are paying USD1500 a...

Only in Argentina - Realtor complains about $600 in stained bills out of $130,000+

I just love when people talk about crypto being used for money laundering, when the good old USD is still the preferred method of serious launderers...

Inflation Is Falling, But Argentines 'Are Not Yet Better Off': Milei's Gamble Under Fire

I can see the Trump Administration making a favorable trade deal with Argentina and leaving the more socialist leaning governments of South America out in the cold.

Politics What does Trump's victory mean for Argentina?

But it's not an accident we have the world's reserve currency.

Politics What does Trump's victory mean for Argentina?

A manifestly true and obvious statement. And, at a guess, Argentina won't be subjected to tariffs - the US runs a trade surplus with Argentina.

Record optimism among Argentine CEOs for 2025: Over 90% expect economic growth

OTOH, who is the Secretary of State today? Trump really doesn't take things personally. He is entirely transactional. If you're in his way, he'll bulldoze you. But if he decides later you can help him, he'll forget it ever happened.

Record optimism among Argentine CEOs for 2025: Over 90% expect economic growth

Granted I'm an old guy who follows politics, but I think you underestimate how much North Americans and Europeans know about Argentina. Through the 1970's and 80's for a lot of stuff Argentinos probably want to just forget, the country was in the news a lot. And as a long time Libertarian, I can...

    Why Men Study Spanish

I'm 64 years old. I still look, but I'm aware all those 20 something chicas are 220 volts, and I'm only wired for 110 ;)

Record optimism among Argentine CEOs for 2025: Over 90% expect economic growth

If there is 5-6% growth in GDP next year (as most are predicting), salaries will start catching up to inflation, and many new jobs will be created. Granted, floating the peso will create inflationary pressure, but that's the tightrope the Argentine economy is walking right now. Bottom line is...

Record optimism among Argentine CEOs for 2025: Over 90% expect economic growth

Trump doesn't strike. He strikes BACK. It's really that simple.

Record optimism among Argentine CEOs for 2025: Over 90% expect economic growth

Milei is retaining his popularity because he told the truth. He didn't sugar coat the pain reform would cause. A year later, they are seeing the results. As long as the economy continues to recover, they will stick with him. If it doesn't, he'll be a one hit wonder.

Real Estate Sales Divisible mortgages: the Government took a key step to facilitate access to credit with homes under construction - Infobae

How does this work? Like, a developer (who has the assets and credit to easily qualify for a mortgage) builds a 10 unit project, takes a mortgage on the whole thing, then passes on 10% of the mortgage to each buyer? And he then gets to decide who he lends to, as far as income and credit...

    Why Men Study Spanish

Saw a guy on Twitter the other day, said he got drugged the very day he flew in to Medellin. Said he was innocently sitting at the bar having a drink and woke up in his hotel room minus his cash and electronics. I am not big on victim blaming, but I wondered how his assailant knew which room to...

    Why Men Study Spanish

That's true a lot of places unless you stick to the tourist centers. Which are generally crowded, overpriced and not authentic. I like to go off the beaten path a little. Especially food-wise. I like to find the little hole in the wall restaurants the locals go to. Where, if you throw out a...
