President Milei’s surprising devotion to Judaism and Israel provokes tension in Argentina and beyond

This is just a guess, but the Israeli lobby in the US is extraordinarily influential

What happens if Argentina gets too expensive? What are alternative cities/countries to move to when it's overpriced in Argentina?

I can only imagine how frustrating that is Larry, and I'm sure it's little consolation that there are other options because they involve uprooting yourself. But at least they do exist.

What happens if Argentina gets too expensive? What are alternative cities/countries to move to when it's overpriced in Argentina?

Fair point. If your city has a direct flight to BA (like LA), that airline will charge a big premium because they know most people will pay it rather than take two flights. If there's no direct then they're competing with other routes so it's quite cheap. However, that is even more the case...

What happens if Argentina gets too expensive? What are alternative cities/countries to move to when it's overpriced in Argentina?

Yes sorry, I meant total cost of the trip, and believe me it's not even close. Italy is really expensive for a country with so many great locations to visit (not like all touristss are going to the same few spots) and whose economy isn't that great.

Politics What does Trump's victory mean for Argentina?

That is the NY Times. Very different source from the WSJ.

What happens if Argentina gets too expensive? What are alternative cities/countries to move to when it's overpriced in Argentina?

From a tourist's perspective BA is still quite cheap. Flights and accommodations are your biggest expense for families and those are far cheaper for BA than anywhere in Europe. Flights to Europe are about 50% more than BA and accommodations in Italy are probably 4x. I've heard Spain and...

Argentine Leader Draws Fire After Cratering of Crypto Coin He Promoted - New York Times

It used to be respected by everyone but it's too biased and opinionated to be credible today. They knew about Biden's dementia, they knew inflation was bad and that opinion polls were heavily against Biden, they knew Harris was a weak candidate and that many in the party were against her, but...

Argentina and the IMF: Can This Marriage Be Saved?

The US has a 16% vote but pays much more than that because (like all these global organizations) many member countries don't pay their bills and for some reason that's been acceptable until now. So I think the US will get their way.

Argentine Leader Draws Fire After Cratering of Crypto Coin He Promoted - New York Times

Some of this may be true but I would consider the source. The NYT used to be a left-leaning paper that prioritized news over dogma, but over the past 10-15 years it has devolved into a hard-left rag and I don't trust them like I used to.

Argentina and the IMF: Can This Marriage Be Saved?

Do you mean if the US pulled out of the IMF?

Argentina and the IMF: Can This Marriage Be Saved?

https://www.reuters.com/world/what-are-imf-world-bank-what-happens-if-us-pulls-support-2025-02-27/ Decent article explaining the IMF and World Bank, what if US pulls out, etc. Pie charts need some work and it doesn't show who actually pays their share (many don't fulfill their obligations and...

Milei: Argentina in talks with Ukraine, military aid a possibility - Is this a joke?

I mean no disrespect here, but what Argentina thinks about Ukraine could best be summed up as "who gives a ----"

    I'm on my way!

Interesting, when I stayed in SoHo last August there was poop on every block almost. Recoleta had very little but I saw fewer dogs there too.

What happens if Argentina gets too expensive? What are alternative cities/countries to move to when it's overpriced in Argentina?

I hear you Larry but of course it's going to feel good while you're outspending your means for decades on end. Argentina ran up a tab with every lender in sight until they ran out of rope and the bill came due. This hangover is going to last awhile and I doubt the era you described is ever...

We did combine a couple of pozo units. It's pretty common to do that here in the US.

Absolutely Johnny, would very much enjoy celebrating with you all when it's complete. We combined a couple of units into a 3br, Nicolas at GyD was really great to work with on that. As always the proof will be in the pudding but looking at those photos of yours sure gives us confidence. Enjoy...

Politics What does Trump's victory mean for Argentina?

It sure is odd, Betsy. This is much bigger than family or any other deep belief system. Every day he doesn't do the obvious, it gets harder and more costly.

Politics What does Trump's victory mean for Argentina?

Couldn't agree more Mike. I'm surprised Milei could be that small-minded. If he had kept his nose clean, a long list of highly paid board memberships and speaking engagements was waiting for him after government. His life would consist of giving speeches, rubbing elbows with interesting...
