    Police Report Procedure

There’s a reason I wear a Seiko when I wear a watch out, most of the time. Or if I’m feeling really fancy, I have a 60s-vintage Zenith I really like.

    Newcomer Meeting Americans

I lived about 50m on the other side of Corrientes from Movistar arena for a bit and it wasn’t bad. The apartment itself wasn’t great, but I like the area for a decent balance between cost and amenities, and I do think it’ll develop more.

Food & Drink The map of the 10 best pizzerias in Buenos Aires

Not the greatest photo, but the fugazzetta at Güerrin is incredible and a must try, if you haven’t yet.

    Newcomer Meeting Americans

Going to echo @earlyretirement here, and I’ll add in that it’s good to find some sort of social or community organization to get involved in. My castellano has improved immensely just by finding a church and becoming active in it.

Is the Expat party in Buenos Aires coming to an end?

To add to what @earlyretirement said, a friend of ours was in town from Chaco and we went to Guerrin last night. Our total, including drinks, dessert and tip was 30k, which ain’t bad for 3 people.

Newcomer Don Julio or La Cabrera ?

Likewise. I've been four times, once to celebrate moving to Argentina, once for my birthday last year, then for my first date in Buenos Aires with my wife, and finally for our shared birthday celebration. As for the comments above about service... I personally enjoy the Argentine style of...

Is the Expat party in Buenos Aires coming to an end?

I'm somewhere in the middle in a lot of ways between the immigrant and expat lives... My wife and I were just talking about how our plan to move back to Brazil may not be the best path, a few days ago. I've had dreams of raising our kids in Buenos Aires, and I was just talking to my therapist...

Is the Expat party in Buenos Aires coming to an end?

Gotta say, I agree with @Che Vos here. I enjoy cheap steak as much as anyone, but I'd rather have more expensive steaks, where the people cooking and serving them, and the people washing the dishes have a decent standard of living and don't have to stress about the cost of pasta doubling while...

Is the Expat party in Buenos Aires coming to an end?

Our total this time was just a tick over 69k pesos, and that was the bife de chorizo mariposa shared, papas fritas and asparagus, with agua con gas, provoleta con zucchini as an appetizer and two orders of helado for dessert. No wines because we weren't feeling super up to it and nothing super...

Newcomer Don Julio or La Cabrera ?

I’ve always had good experiences at Don Julio, but it’s expensive for BsAs. I’d go to El Preferido or La Carneceria myself, if I’m not in a mood to try for a Don Julio reservation, or Somos Asado in Villa Crespo. If you’re wanting a solid meat coma for less, there’s one on Salguero, between...

Is the Expat party in Buenos Aires coming to an end?

Perhaps my spouse and I are on the fiscally conservative end of the bell curve, but we were at Don Julio last week, and it was $80 for the two of us, combined. When we were there in January, it was about $75 total, so... I don't think it's super skyrocketed, but again, we could just be edge cases.

Newcomer Is Villa Crespo a safe area to stay in?

I’d argue better than Chicago style, or really any U.S. style pizza, but I’m biased. Güerrín is my personal favorite, though Imperial and Bar Roma are also favorites of mine. The pizza is amazing, ignore the haters.

Newcomer Is Villa Crespo a safe area to stay in?

My wife and I just moved to Recoleta from Villa Crespo, and it was pretty tranquilo, other than some noise whenever Atlanta is playing. Our old apartment was about 80m from the train station and about 180m or so from Estación Dorrego on line B, and it was a pretty good area. I didn't have any...

Newcomer Traveling to Argentina with a Dog

It could be because they’re not 24/7, but it could also be that the vast majority of international travel goes through Ezeiza. We were bringing our cat in from Brazil, hence AEP instead of EZE. Super easy process though, and it was honestly harder to get her suitcase of books through Aduanas...

Newcomer Traveling to Argentina with a Dog

I can’t speak for dogs, but one thing that is wrong is that you can bring pets in through AEP. When my wife moved to BA in September, she came in through AEP with our cat, without hassle. However, SENASA isn’t 24/7 there like it is at Ezeiza.

Travel Purchasing an eSim for data only for cellphone for Argentina visit

I’m late to the party, but my wife and I are both on Personal and like it, and having real 5G is nice. We’re both on iPhones, her on a US-spec 14 Pro, so eSIM only and me with a physical SIM in my 12 mini

Newcomer Safety prep for Buenos Aires, opinions?

For what it's worth, I generally feel pretty safe in BA. Ironically, a little less so in Palermo than when I lived on the edge between Congreso and San Nicolas, but it's still safe. I also tend to do things like not carry too much cash on me, keep my phone in my pocket and dress modestly, fwiw.

Is the Expat party in Buenos Aires coming to an end?

This is one of the reasons I went ahead and jumped on a 2-year contract before the elections, at a cost I think is reasonable to both my landlord and I. I’m already seeing Airbnb prices going up in my casual browsing, and our old place, without air conditioning, is listed on Airbnb for over...

Food & Drink Argentine restaurants shine brightly with the announcement of its first-ever MICHELIN Stars! - (Michelin Guide)

Ditto to @earlyretirement. I’m not quite a 21 year permanent resident, but I’m one apostilled and translated criminal record certificate away from applying for PR through marriage, not much farther away from citizenship, and I truly want my friends and family here to prosper.

Newcomer What are some fantastic values for shopping?

I generally prefer Cachafaz, but Havanna are also fantastic.
