'Eating is a luxury': Argentina inflation falls but shoppers still feel squeezed

To be fair many of the people complaining they are hungry In the USA are overweight! Look at some of these people that claim it and they are eating McDonalds or junk food everyday.

‘The gangs never used to kill children, now they do’: how cocaine created Argentina’s first narcocity

My friend from El Salvador lives in Chicago now. She still has family there. She said before Bukele you couldn't leave your house. Now it's one of the safest cities in Latin America. But I heard Argentina is very safe. I assume it's only these border towns which are sketchy?

Milei leaves for G7 Summit with a plethora of good news

But is everything a done deal? Now he doesn't have any more negotiations? Was that the start or is he done and it's a done deal? For example when I read some news about it, it makes it sound like things still have to be ratified or negotiated...

Politics Riots in Congress During the Debate on the Bases Law: They Are Not Protesters, They Are Savages

My friend said that there were a lot of pot banging in the streets after the vote. She asked and the locals told her that this is common when protesting. Seems like a weird way to protest. Does anyone know the origins of how they started to bang on pots and pans? @Sunny did they do this when...

What is Modo, Argentina's virtual wallet (Discounts at Coto and other stores) - Mercado Pago competitor

It is crazy how many people use cash there. My friends there said that many locals don't like to use credit cards for anything! I can't imagine. I haven't used cash for months. I haven't had to use an ATM machine I think in the USA in almost a year. When I travel yes to withdraw currency but...

Newcomer Paul McCartney in Buenos Aires

How much did they offer them for? I have no idea if his voice is still good. I saw some footage of Madonna on tour and it was pretty gross. She is very old and was kissing some other older woman. How can she think people want to see that? I'm sure this concert will be much tamer. :P

Milei orders military parades for Independence Day celebrations - I thought No Hay Plata!

But I'm confused. It looks like they had things contained with the pepper spray. Looks like that pepper spray didn't work after all. :ROFLMAO:

Newcomer Moving to BA and Essential Apps to use

What a great list! Downloading all of them now. Is cellphone service strong all over the city? I use TMobile in the US and have free coverage outside of the USA and Argentina is one of the countries. Does anyone have experience with this? Will I need to get a local # or will service be fine...

Milei orders military parades for Independence Day celebrations - I thought No Hay Plata!

All really great points on this thread. In the USA we respect military vets and their service. But I have to say, people are getting tired of financing wars outside of the USA and funding conflicts that might drag us in further. I don't know anything about Argentina's military so can't speak...

Newcomer Argentine Citizenship for parents by giving birth to child inside Argentina - Legal advice needed?

Thanks @Sunny for that really nice DM. I was going to post and ask people here for their opinion on what you mentioned. I get your point about Soho and Hollywood but my friends say as long as you're just aware. They have been near Villa Crespo and haven't had issues although they say Hollywood...

Argentina’s small and medium-sized businesses brace for total devastation

It sounds like his popularity ratings are going down. It was higher a few months ago. I just read the other thread where majority of people think he cares more about his image internationally than his problems at home. Recipe for disaster if this keeps up.

Love Advice - Fell in love with an escort in Buenos Aires - Is it real love?

I don't know how I missed this thread! Just read all the posts! This is crazy! You are an attorney and should know better. If someone came to you asking for advice you would have definitely told them not to try this. I'm sorry it didn't work out but you should have known! I would love to know...

How much money does it take to be in the upper 5% of wealth in Argentina?

Wow! It doesn't take much to be in the upper class! So if I come down with six figure salary then I would automatically get to be in the upper class there. It isn't much for the USA but down there it sounds like I'd be a big shot. My accountant just told me if I am living in Argentina I can...
