IMF Agreement: The Government Will Send a DNU to Congress to Obtain Support

Sounds like $20 Billion is coming which would be great. https://www.bloomberglinea.com/latinoamerica/argentina/banco-suizo-preve-que-el-fmi-prestara-a-argentina-hasta-us20000-millones-en-nuevo-programa/

Is Skype closing down? I heard they are closing.

My friend uses Viber and he raves about it. I have to check it out. The Skype is going to go until May. https://www.viber.com/en/features/

What happens if Argentina gets too expensive? What are alternative cities/countries to move to when it's overpriced in Argentina?

But @Larry you keep saying that Buenos Aires is more expensive than the USA. Have you ever lived in the USA? I don't believe so based on your posts. Some things might be more than the USA but overall Buenos Aires is much cheaper than the USA. Rentals don't even come close. Rents are cheap in...

    Newcomer Power cuts this summer

Wow! That is a long time for power to be off. I remember one year it was like that and kept going off. Frustrating when it is so hot and humid out. Is it just power overload from everyone using AC?

What happens if Argentina gets too expensive? What are alternative cities/countries to move to when it's overpriced in Argentina?

People underestimate how expensive the US is. My Argentine friends imagine the US as this utopia where everyone is making hundreds of thousands per year and life is easy. That is far from the case. Our salaries might be higher but our expenses are much higher too. @Cali Baby makes great points...

Real Estate Market in Buenos Aires: Property Deeds Increased by 93.7% Year-on-Year in January, with 25% Now Using Mortgage Loans

This was one of the things that you recommended so many years ago that was helpful for me when I was buying my places in Buenos Aires. After seeing so many properties, you lost track of it all. Both the spreadsheet and Google map was great. I actually prefer that properties are all cash in...

Real Estate Sales Great New Construction For Sale that is going to be Completed by August 2024 - Meet Palermo

I bought two properties with Mike. One I kept and didn't sell and will never sell. The other I sold when he did. Probably should have bought another last year but I am glad I have a place in Buenos Aires. Your place turned out great Mike.

Real Estate Sales Great New Construction For Sale that is going to be Completed by August 2024 - Meet Palermo

Great job on the apartment @Johnny. $85/month is extremely good. Mine jumped up quite a bit last year but they have now stabilized. Not having a live in doorman really helps contain expenses. That was a smart decision. More and more buildings are trying to get rid of the live in doormen as...

Politics What does Trump's victory mean for Argentina?

It will be interesting to see if Milei is able to get Trump to change his mind before they go into effect. https://www.batimes.com.ar/news/opinion-and-analysis/trade-war-puts-mileis-trump-first-foreign-policy-to-the-test.phtml

Newcomer Why are Porteños more miserable than all the other provinces?

Very true. Unfortunately. I do think it is getting better. When I first bought my apartment no one picked up but now I do occasionally see Porteños picking up but I still see a lot that don't care.

Don't count Cristina Kirchner out for a comeback

I heard the same and it is difficult to find out who really owns it because of trusts and secretive LLCs that won't go in her name but maybe her lawyers.

Apartment Rental Argentina Scrapped Its Rent Controls. Now the Market Is Thriving - The Wall Street Journal

It is hard to believe how people think that price controls will work. Milei getting rid of the rent controls is proof positive that things can easily be solved by getting rid of laws and policies that don't make sense. The amount of apartments skyrocketed again as soon as that law was abandoned...

Outbound tourism from Argentina to Chile up 130% Year over Year

There are still plenty of people dining out. I was in BA last week and La Mar was packed every time I walked by at night. My girlfriend lives across the street and always packed. I do notice less tourists than usual. I wonder how much tourism is down right now.

Getting Italian or Spanish (European Union) passport from Grandparents?

I have a few friends that have a Spanish passport and an Italian passport. I will ask them. I do know that it is possible if your grandparents were from Italy.

A road trip through Argentina reveals the country’s wild beauty at its best - Buenos Aires to Salta

One of these days I just want to buy a car and drive all through Argentina. I have been through parts of it but such a big country.

Newcomer Passing on some advice about tourist SIM cards/chips

I do think that getting the pre-paid SIM can be challenging because not all stores do it. But once you have it, I don't think it is difficult to refill. Well traveled tourists would be able to do it as they will have researched it ahead of time online. But people that aren't too familiar with...

Seeking Help: Doubts and Fears Before Starting Therapy

Agree with the other posts. I went my entire life without therapy at all. And I live in LA so probably need it the most! It wasn't until I purchased my apartment in BA and so many of my local friends recommended it to me. One of the best decisions I ever made. It is expensive in the States but...

Real Estate Sales No negotiation: why there is almost no room to discuss the price of a home in a real estate transaction - Infobae

Very true. I bought my first apartment in 2005 which was a pozo in a very tall building in Palermo Soho (Palermo Uno) so it took a while to build it. I took delivery of it in 2009. But the price I paid was $50,000. I couldn't believe how cheap it was. I still own it. I wish I would have...

Buying an apartment in Buenos Aires how much to offer??

I had the same thing happen when I bought my 2nd apartment. The first was very easy because I bought an off plan at pozo stage and it was easy (and cheap). 2nd purchase was same kind of experiences as you @Digital Nomad. But did finally close.
