Summary of the new proposed labor reform

I always remember the stories you told me Mike about some of the things you were dealing with in Argentina. I remember thinking to myself I would never want to own a company there. A good place to come on vacation or maybe retire but not so much to own a business. This is what I worry about...

Anyone know why the suicide rate in Uruguay is so high?

Wow that is shocking. Had no idea the suicide rates in Uruguay is so much higher. For such a pleasant country that is shocking.

I Got My Argentine DNI in 47 Days

There are also downsides to getting a DNI and getting permanent residency. I don't like Argentina's wealth tax but it doesn't seem like Argentina would really know what I had outside of Argentina but I didn't want to take the chance.

Banking What is going on with the Blue dollar? Why is it going down?

You have had great timing since I've known you. Hard to believe it's been 20 years since I purchased my first apartment with you. You definitely have the Midas touch in Argentina. It is great to see that you started to buy more. Good timing catching the bottom in 2023. Did you sell all of...

Real Estate Sales Mortgages boost Buenos Aires real estate - Ambito

That makes sense. Peak was 2017/2018. I sold one of my apartments back then and we are far from those prices. I sold a small studio and got $200,000. Crazy when you think I paid $49,000 for it when I originally bought it.

Has anyone used kavak.com.ar here to buy an used car?

I can't imagine owning a car in BA. Terrible value proposition to me. I hope to one day retire in Buenos Aires and part of what I will look forward to is not having to own a car. I live in Los Angeles where you have to own a car but owning a car is something that I won't look forward to in...

If the Argentina peso is truly overvalued

Dick based on my experiences (I have bought 2 properties since 2003) is it's all local connections. Argentina is almost impossible for anyone going at it alone. But it is a breeze if you have local connections. I bought 2 properties without even seeing them in person before I bought them. I...

If the Argentina peso is truly overvalued

Totally agree. There is a LOT of debt that is due in 2026 and 2027. Some things the government will need to have good luck with commodities prices, favorable debt rollover, etc. Expats right now are on the losing end of the equation with Milei. Sure he may be helping the country but if you...

Any recommendations for a Breast biopsy?

That is what I was worried about. I honestly don't want to pay for an expensive policy in both countries. Fortunately I am healthy but I will probably keep coverage a few months from my US policy while I start with a local policy.

Any recommendations for a Breast biopsy?

Thank you for sharing your information. I am planning to retire in BA in the future and I have heard mixed things about the medical there compared to the USA. Others have told me positive things about having kids there in the hospital and other things but I have heard complaints like yours...

Office of Official Response: The new government account to debunk 'lies' about Milei. He seems like the Argentinean Trump.

He has goofed up plenty of times. But then again they all do in Argentina. Seen many Presidents come and go since I bought my place in Palermo back in 2003. @Nasdaq said it right that things go good until they don't. There were plenty of problems before Milei started and there will be...

Rapid collapse of birth rates in Argentina and South America

Congrats Mike! I always say when kids get into great schools it's a reflection of their parents. Well done. Looking forward to seeing you next month in LA.

Recommendations for an English speaking accountant for expat in Argentina?

I have been very happy with Ana Lucius. I have worked with her since 2011. She speaks perfect English and knows the laws well for foreigners. https://analucius.com/about/

[2026] What are some of the popular online apps/services that do not need DNI or local payments?

That would be great if Mercado Libre works for foreigners now. Every time my friends go down to stay in my place they always have to use my account.

    Great Airbnb rental in Palermo

Well done Johnny. Looks like @BuySellBA still has the Midas touch. That building you bought in is the same developer that built both of my 2 units. I still own one today. Mine has been consistently booked solid. Where is your 2nd property located? I recall you bought a Pozo? What part of...

American-style breakfast restaurants in Buenos Aires?

It is good to see more places with expanded breakfasts. Argentines aren't known for eating big breakfasts like Americans. I am going to check out Ol' Days. Very big menu. Jay's is my go to spot for American style breakfast.

Argentines’ debt with digital wallets hits an all-time high as ‘irrecoverable’ loans double in 2025

I bought my first two apartments in 2004. I still own one of them and sold the other one in 2017 for a huge premium to what I purchased it at. There are 4 kinds of countries: developed, undeveloped, Japan and Argentina.

Banking Getting dollars into Argentina to purchase real estate

@BuySellBA is a very dependable company. I have been working with the same team for over 20 years in Buenos Aires. They helped me buy two apartments in Buenos Aires. I still own one apartment in Palermo Uno that they purchased for me. They helped me sell one of my apartments in 2018. In all...

Newcomer Would you move a family to Argentina...?

One of my neighbors just visited Argentina and loved it. He does have one child. He started doing the math as he was thinking of doing a year with his child in Buenos Aires and he asked me about it as he knows I own an apartment in Palermo. I told him I didn't know about the cost to raise a...

Aerolineas Argentina starting direct flights from Córdoba - Miami and to Kansas City for World Cup Add

It is good to see Aerolineas expanding. You can see the only 2 years where the airline is making money is when Javier Milei came into power. Surprise surprise companies ARE capable of making money.
