    Newcomer Cost of Subte?

That is what I noticed too. All the young Porteños seem to overwhelmingly love Milei. I have mostly met younger people here and they also overwhelmingly are pro Milei. But the older people like the doorman in the Airbnb I am at are negative. I will ask some Uber drivers and all the foreign...

    Comical reading BAexpats.org Threads!

I don't get what's the purpose of having a public forum if people can't post what they want. Very bizarre this kind of behavior!

Great recommendation for haircut in Buenos Aires - Mala Peluqueria (Palermo Soho)

Thanks for posting about this place. I came for a haircut. The place is huge. Prices definitely have gone up in BA since last year. Haircuts here are now 22,000 pesos or about $20 dollars. Interesting seeing it go from 7,000 pesos to 22,000 pesos in less than a year.

Newcomer What is the recommended amount of cash to bring for my stay in Buenos Aires?

The response is that it's impossible to provide an accurate answer without knowing the specific expenditures, as costs can vary widely (for instance, a dinner for two could range from 20,000 pesos to over 200,000 pesos). Credit cards are widely accepted and offer favorable exchange rates...

    Newcomer Activitis for men

Completely fascinated by the nightlife in Buenos Aires. As a 43-year-old foreigner in search of entertainment, I discovered that the city comes alive with energy and vitality after dark. The diverse array of bars, the lively atmosphere, and the people always in a festive and cheerful mood— I...

Economy Argentina isn't the affordable option

Indeed, it's a much more agreeable solution than implementing a minimum price of 5 dollars for everything, which appears to be an unwelcome and inflationary approach. This is precisely the type of price inflation that raises concerns about its potential manifestation here in Argentina. On a...

Economy Argentina isn't the affordable option

Really? How did that function? Did they assign random values in U.S. cents to the Panamanian coins, akin to what occurred in the UK with the former shilling coins following decimalization? I'm not suggesting that UK coins ever had values in U.S. dollars; I'm merely drawing a parallel to how two...

Economy Argentina isn't the affordable option

While this might sound appealing to those on the higher echelons of the socio-economic ladder, it could be exceedingly challenging for those on the lower rungs, including seniors. Frankly, I'm not concerned about how things are done in Europe. If anything, I view Europe as a negative example...

Economy Argentina isn't the affordable option

For instance, there were images circulating of seniors waiting in long lines under the sun to receive payments in...

Economy Argentina isn't the affordable option

Do you know that a bus has a battery that is charged by an alternator? And you are suggesting the implementation of a completely new nationwide payment system in the eighth largest nation in the world. What about the cost? the setup and testing time? or if it gets hacked? Cash is always...

Economy Argentina isn't the affordable option

It's a somewhat ageist response, overlooking the concerns of seniors, not to mention other issues with such a proposal. Consider scenarios where a store or kiosk lacks internet connectivity, a common occurrence here. Moreover, what about situations with power outages? In those instances, nobody...

Economy Argentina isn't the affordable option

Let me highlight another challenge associated with dollarization—the demand for change. If the economy transitions to using dollars, there will be a substantial requirement for smaller denominations—1, 5, 10, 20 dollar bills, and coins, including dimes and quarters. Addressing the logistical...

Economy Argentina isn't the affordable option

Certainly, the reason I relocated is that with what I receive from Social Security, living in California would have left me with very limited options, potentially even residing in a makeshift shelter under a bridge. It's disheartening when someone with deep roots in California, belonging to a...
