Politics Diplomatic crisis with Spain? How does it affect Argentina if the president of Spain withdraws his ambassador?

I think the President is doing a fairly good job so far but it IS getting a bit out of hand to go around accepting an award from the President of Ukraine one week and then flying around to get another award just a few weeks apart. I know some people who were laid off from their government jobs...

Newcomer Two-day side trip in August - Mendoza or Bariloche?

It's not fun getting snowed in and stuck at the airport in Argentina. I got stuck in Bariloche before and the worst thing was the hotels were all sold out and there wasn't even any food at the airport. People were sleeping on the floor of the airport for days. Barely any water either. They can...

Help! My tourist extension visa was denied today

Price is the same at either airport. People posted extensively about the process and locations if you do a search. You can also see a lot of info on this website. https://inlovelyblue.com/extend-argentina-tourist-visa/

Be cautious! Counterfeit $10,000 AR bills have been detected

I doubt many locals would fall for these fake bills but tourists probably can't spot the difference too easily.

Newcomer WTF is the deal with Pedestrians not having the right of way in Buenos Aires. I almost got killed today at a green light

This is also one of the things I do not like about BA. Drivers never yield to pedestrians like many major cities. Sure other places are worse like Vietnam but sometimes even buses run red lights and they always speed up sometimes even after a light has turned red. And they always honk their...

Banking Credit Card real-world rate "MEP" transaction repo (Dec2023)

I meant I just pay in pesos. I have seen signs for places that will accept USD with exchange rates but usually at bigger restaurants but I don't like to honestly walk around with $100 USD bills except when going to an exchange place. I guess you could ask if they accept USD and what exchange...

Non-Resident foreigners buying real estate activity picking up strong in Buenos Aires right now

Even if you are not the owner it is a good idea to make friends with the doorman. In the rentals from Airbnb I have found the doormen are very nice. My friend let me use her Mercado Libre account to order things and the doorman will always get my packages and bring them up to me. Also, food...

Banking Credit Card real-world rate "MEP" transaction repo (Dec2023)

Before I was mostly just using my credit card but I am finding it better to use Western Union and with the 15% cash discounts at many restaurants I am saving more just paying cash again. It will be nice when the larger denominated bill comes out. I hope that is soon.

Does it still make sense to retire in Buenos Aires on fixed income?

There are many cheap and affordable places around the world but many are horrible places with nothing to do or horrible weather much of the year. I notice a lot of expats complaining about the cost of living but it is still better than many places. I just arrived this weekend and I was...

Visas Can a 30-week pregnant woman enter Argentina on a tourist visa?

Well it should be noted that some are getting rejected now at the airport. I have a Russian friend that is 6 months pregnant and was coming for this same thing and she was rejected at the border so she had to go to Brazil instead. She said she will try to come through a land crossing now but...

Extending a Tourist Visa in Buenos Aires to be a permanent-tourist in Argentina

Yes you can pay the overstay penalty at AEP as well. However I would strongly recommend you pay the fine the day before you leave as you never know what might happen and you need to have it paid before you check in for your flight. But AEP has an office to pay.

Newcomer Is dog poop on sidewalks as bad as I read online in forums and blogs? Do people not pick up after their dogs?

BA based on what you are saying is probably not ideal. I'm not sure how bad your OCD is. I also have it and I have to constantly watch where I walk. I live in Soho and it's disgusting. Not only the dog poo but also the pee. It's all over and people don't even make an effort to lead their dogs...

What happens if Argentina gets too expensive? What are alternative cities/countries to move to when it's overpriced in Argentina?

But are you trying to say there is no inflation? I notice things more expensive vs. a few months ago. Prices definitely have been going up. I just saw a post on a restaurant and there was clear inflation going on.

Chori - Delicious Choripan Restaurant in Palermo Soho

I love Choripan! I will check this place out. I have walked around Soho a good bit but never passed this place. That photo looks delicious! The choripan I have had was in a hot dog type bun but this looks like a sandwich. Going to swing by this week.
