An opinion study carried out on more than 12 thousand cases, between March 5 and 10, placed President Javier Milei as the third head of state with the best image in South America , only surpassed by the president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa , and the Uruguayan, Luis Lacalle Pou .

The work was carried out by CB Consulting, led by political scientist Cristian Buttier, who usually measures the weight of leaders among citizens. Usually, CB makes a ranking of governors of Argentina. This time, with a similar methodology, he moved the comparisons to the region.

The first six places on the list prepared by the consulting firm are completed, in addition to Noboa, Lacalle Pou and Milei, by the President of Brazil, Luis Inacio Lula da Silva , that of Paraguay, Santiago Peña , and that of Chile, Gabriel Boric .

The study carried out the consultations through virtual questionnaires using the Cawi Research method, with which it investigated in 10 South American countries about the assessment of the citizenship of the main 15 leaders. Indeed, the work was carried out in Peru, Colombia, Bolivia, Venezuela, Chile, Paraguay, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Ecuador .

There, respondents were asked what their opinion is about each leader, providing four options: good, very good, bad and very bad . From the average of the responses it is inferred whether the assessment is positive or negative in each case.

Daniel Noboa , who took office as president of Ecuador in November 2023, obtained 62.5% positive ratings between good and very good. Lacalle Pou reached 54.2%, while Milei obtained 51.2% according to CB's work.

The case of Lacalle Pou has a particularity, despite being the second South American head of state with the best image, he is not the most valued in his country , since, according to this measurement, the mayor of Canelones, Yamandú Orsi , registers a higher percentage, with 59.9% adhesions. A similar situation occurs in Paraguay, since Senator Kattya González has a higher percentage of positive image than President Peña .

Milei's image, meanwhile, was measured alongside other political leaders with national projection. The president is followed by Patricia Bullrich and Victoria Villarruel, the figures with the best image in the government, and then two leaders of Peronism appear: Sergio Massa and Cristina Kirchner .

The list of political leaders evaluated in the CB measurement is completed with Jorge Macri, Martín Llaryora, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, Martín Lousteau and Axel Kicillof, whom the survey places in the category of leaders with a “regular” image since the percentages The positive and negative responses they obtained were similar.

Among the leaders with a bad image in the country are Mauricio Macri, Martín Menem, Guillermo Moreno, Máximo Kirchner and Alberto Fernández. All of them have a much higher percentage of negative responses than positive ones. The former president, who left office on December 10, is in last place in the ranking.

This Tuesday, March 19, President Javier Milei completed his first 100 days in government. According to him, one of the facts that he values most about the first three months at the head of the National Executive Branch is that, despite having promoted an adjustment policy that impacted citizens and accelerated the inflation process, his image in front of to the citizens has not collapsed. On the contrary, the president maintains that the majority of Argentines maintain hope that the measures implemented at the beginning of his government represent an effort that will bear fruit in the coming months.

Studies such as that of CB Consultora are located in this line of reasoning: despite the “chainsaw” and the “blender”, as the government defines cuts in the state and the depreciation of income due to inflation, expectations in The short-term future for the economy is still high and they are waiting for the rebound that the Milei government promises.
