Aerolineas Argentinas cuts staff, routes, passenger perks ahead of possible sale

Saw this online. It will be interesting if anyone wants to buy this airline. Seems like a money losing operation.

I have no doubt they can be returned to profitability if owned and managed privately. Cutting routes is counter productive, but cutting staff? No brainer. Most govt run airlines are way too top heavy employment wise. Tons of dead weight at HQ, and they always want to cut front line employees instead of themselves.

But I believe that you can't just look at profit and loss. Argentina is a vast country and people need to get around. You will have some unprofitable routes but does not mean it is good to cut all routes. I think it bad idea to get rid of so many flights. I agree Aerolineas does very bad job but they are essential for Argentina.

I do not believe you can just look at profit and loss for transportation. Same for subway and bus. If people can not get to work there is chaos. There must be some value on public service of getting people around.

I am not sure how good of an idea it is cutting out snacks. They just are like a discount airline now. I don't think it would cost too much to offer that and probably will lose customers. Doesn't seem smart to me.
