The Federal Police seized several agendas and telephones last night in the house of broker Héctor Martínez Sosa and his wife, María Cantero, who was Alberto Fernández's secretary for three decades. As Infobae learned , the agents also took computers after searching the house, but they did not find documentation linked to the judicial case. There was also no vault, as was initially revealed.

The raid was carried out last night by order of Judge Julián Ercolini and ended well into the early hours of the morning.

The chalet is located in a corner of the town of Victoria, San Fernando district, where majestic houses are not abundant.

The house is entered through two black gates that protrude from a wall covered by vegetation. Behind the house there is a large park, a swimming pool, and a huge barbecue area.

During the procedure, a lawyer representing the couple arrived at the scene, as Infobae revealed last night .

In parallel, other similar procedures were carried out in offices and homes belonging to the former head of Nación Seguros, Alberto Pagliano, and the broker Pablo Torres García .

Pagliano is one of the accused but he also has a relationship with the former president for more than three decades. At the end of 2022, he declared an estate of $120,573,868 , taking into account the tax values of his properties. It represents an increase of more than 100% compared to the previous year. But he still owes the 2023 return.

Among other things, he declared that he owned a 300 m2 house located in the city of Buenos Aires (bought in 1990, when he worked at the Insurance Superintendency), a piece of land in San Rafael (Mendoza), and a Chevrolet Spin 1.8 truck. 2014. Of these three assets, the only one that stands out is the 300 m2 house, with a tax value of $42,759,817 (for 50%).

Last Thursday, prosecutor Ramiro González charged Alberto Fernández and Pagliano and gave impetus to the complaints. The next day, Judge Ercolini requested the migratory movements of several people and a battery of reports from Nación Seguros, the General Audit Office of the Nation (SIGEN), the General Audit Office of the Nation (AGN), and even the Head of Cabinet .

The scandal put the spotlight on Martínez Sosa, one of the main insurance businessmen. His company has been in the market for more than 50 years. He started in Buenos Aires but quickly settled in Río Grande (Tierra del Fuego), where he obtained an insurance monopoly for at least two administrations. He was first elected as an intermediary in the government of Jorge Colazzo . And in 2020, Governor Gustavo Melella signed an advisory contract with the broker and once again gave him control of all insurance .

Martínez Sosa's close link with Alberto Fernández was not a mystery. In fact, all actors in the sector place it among the three main brokers that negotiate with the State . The other two are Pablo Torres García and the company Castello-Mercuri, which has close ties with Nación Seguros.

Martínez Sosa frequented the Olivos villa during the pandemic, always with his wife, and even lent money to the former president. According to Alberto Fernández, the initial debt was USD 20 thousand.

Since he became president, however, it has remained at $102,240. All four years he repeated the same figure in his sworn statement and the same creditor.

The judicial case began with a complaint from lawyer Silvina Martínez, who accused Fernández and Alberto Pagliano, former head of Nación Seguros . The presentation was based on an article published by the deputy general editor of Clarín , Ricardo Roa, which detailed that within the ANSES a business of 20,000 million pesos annually and 300 million in monthly commissions with insurance and commissions was discovered. of the intermediaries.

Added to that complaint was another presentation by Civic Coalition deputies Juan Manuel López and Paula Oliveto.

On Friday, just before the President's speech before Congress, the judge activated a procedure in Nación Seguros through the Federal Police. Among other things, he requested the list of companies that acted as co-insurers or reinsurers in the contracts concluded between State agencies and the insurer that is now in the hands of Alfonso José Torres, a man of Eduardo “Lule” Menem.

The reinsurance market is watched closely because it leaves million-dollar commissions. “ There are cases that do not need reinsurance but are used anyway. Instead of taking coinsurance in the country, they go to the parent companies abroad. This is done to get dollars at the official value that later return as blue. On the other hand, they have a very low tax pressure (presumptive profit 3.5%) compared to the 35% that they should pay here for profits,” reveals a source from the insurance market.
