🇦🇷🩺🌎Argentine Medical Degrees to be Recognized Globally

Medical degrees awarded in Argentina will now be recognized worldwide, thanks to an international institutional recognition granted by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME).

This achievement comes after the National Commission for University Evaluation and Accreditation (CONEAU) completed the stages outlined in the WFME's Program for Recognition of Accrediting Agencies in Medicine.

Key Details:

🌎Global Validity: Argentine doctors will be able to practice their profession worldwide without needing to recertify their degrees.

🗓️Validity Period: The recognition status is valid until January 31, 2035, and is subject to annual monitoring to ensure continuous compliance with established criteria.

Beneficiaries: The recognition benefits professionals who graduated from universities certified by CONEAU.
This recognition marks a significant milestone for the Argentine medical community, allowing professionals to practice their profession abroad directly and without additional restrictions.

Wow this is great news. Especially for all of the Mercosur people studying free in Argentina. They will all be trying to go to other countries around the world now with their new medical degrees.
The downside is even less reasons for people to stay in Argentina to be a doctor after they finish. It will probably be tough for Argentina to keep doctors here if they can make much more somewhere else.

That was my first thought. I wonder how many good doctors only stay in Argentina (or Paraguay or Brazil) because if they move they typically have to go back to school for a year or more, and take the board exams again (and work as orderlies of medical assistants in the meantime).

I don't know how accurate some of these websites are, but one showed a cardiologist in Buenos Aires makes about the same as I get in Social Security. (About 10% of what a young specialist would make in the US)

The salaries for the most part are very low. I think they probably make more than what some list on these websites but my wife's best friend is a Cardiologist here and I think he only makes $5,000 a month or so.
