This is a follow-up to a previous question; Is it possible to get credit here in Argentina (say, to buy a house) if you have your income from outside Argentina? For the question, consider that one will declare their external income for tax purposes.

Many thanks!

Nope. The banks there don't care how much you claim to make outside of Argentina. They want to see how much you are declaring and paying on taxes each year in Argentina.

And quite frankly, you would NOT want to get a mortgage in Argentina even if you could. The interest rates are insanely high.

The banks will not care what you have outside Argentina. How can that help them if you default on a loan? Are they going to sue you in a foreign court for your assets? Most likely a US bank would not want to lend you money based on income / collateral in Argentina. Just try to use your BA home as collateral to borrow money to buy property in the US!

You usually could do this if there were no absurd currency controls, you'd just take a mortgage out against your property here in Argentina from an Argentine bank and take that cash and use it in the US.

HSBC actually offered internationally secured loans as a service when I signed up with them, don't know if the still do or if they ever did in argentina.
