In April, constructing a building of just over 1,000 m2 total in 8-story horizontal property, yielded an initial budget that exceeded one billion pesos.
The cost of construction measured in pesos continued to slow down its rate of increase in pesos, especially in relation to the rates recorded during the first two months of the year. It increased 4.7%, almost half of the 9.04 percentage points increase registered during March.
However, the stability of the exchange rate in a range close to $1,000 per dollar caused the growth in the cost of building a m2 in dollars during April to reach 6.78% compared to the previous month.
Thus, taking the price of the parallel market of the US currency, the cost per salable m2 reached 1,408 U$S and the total value to be invested in the construction of the typical building was slightly above one million one hundred thousand dollars.
The construction cost in April, measured in nominal dollars, is the highest recorded since August 2008 (starting month of the series), moving from that place to that of last March but also exceeding the highest level by 18.5%. previously recorded in mid-2018.
