The president said that the former president surrounded herself with “numerical illiterates who destroyed the country with their shamanism,” and the Peronist leader’s reply was not long in coming: “Whenever you want, I’ll wait for you at the Patria (Institute).”

Javier Milei and Cristina Kirchner were the protagonists of a heated discussion on social media

The extensive letter published by Cristina Kirchner this morning, with harsh criticism of the economic policy of the libertarian government, was the starting point of a virtual exchange with President Javier Milei , which included insults, accusations of plagiarism and public challenges .

With the title “ It’s the bimonetary economy, stupid, ” the former president and former vice president of the administration headed by Alberto Fernández pointed out the problem of the shortage of dollars, questioned the failures of the anarcho-capitalist theories applied in Argentina and the contradictions of the libertarian discourse. “The tragedy is undeniable, everything is very bad,” she said.

Milei, for her part, responded with a brief and ironic post on X : “I know that you don't understand much about economics, demonstrated by the fact that you surrounded yourself with anumerical illiterates who destroyed the country with their economic shamanism .”

The crossfire between the two continued with a new response from Cristina Kirchner, after midday, where she accused the President of “plagiarizing” the books he wrote . “Talking about economics by saying anything on television sets or writing plagiarized books is one thing. Governing Argentina is quite another,” she said.

And he added: “And given the way Argentines are living, it is clear as day that you have no idea. Whenever you want, because you have time and you spend it messing around on social media, I'll wait for you at the Patria and I'll explain a little bit to you .”

In his reply, Milei suggested to the former president that this Friday afternoon she “turn on the TV” to “learn a little.” “At 7 p.m. I will be giving you a private lesson ad honorem .” The president is referring to the speech he will give this afternoon in Mendoza, at the traditional annual meeting of the Argentine Institute of Finance Executives ( IAEF ), in what - in principle - will be his last public activity of the week.

Although there will be at least thirty activities during the day, there are at least five panels that are expected to generate the most attention: those that will include the president of the Central Bank, Santiago Bausili, and his counterpart from Peru, Jorge Velarde; the ministers Patricia Bullrich (Security) and Federico Sturzenegger (Deregulation) ; the Secretary of Finance, Pablo Quirno; and the governors Alfredo Cornejo (Mendoza) and Rolo Figueroa (Neuquén).

In the run-up to this event, CFK published a new letter, a methodology she has been using in recent years to speak out about the political, social and economic situation. On this occasion, she provided an analysis of the reality of Argentina and strongly questioned the policies implemented by the national government.

The text begins with a quote from John Adams , former President of the United States: “ There are two ways to conquer and enslave a nation. One is the sword, the other is debt .” From that concept, he pointed out the lack of dollars as the main problem affecting the country's economy and highlighted the contradictions between the promises that Milei made during the electoral campaign and the measures that he finally implemented: “ Once again and as always, reality prevails over extravagant theories, incendiary speeches and marketing phrases .”

In this sense, he pointed out against the libertarian leader: “ Milei , the ultra-libertarian who in his campaign promised to eliminate the intervention and control of the State over the lives of Argentines, today, in government, not only intervenes and controls, but also decides three of the four fundamental prices of the economy.” And he listed them:

“1) The price of the dollar, through the crawling-peg table of 2% per month. 2) The price of money, by setting an ultra-negative reference interest rate. 3) The price of work, by setting a ceiling for wage agreements. 4) Only the fourth price of the economy has been freed; that of goods and services, although with certain limitations: electricity, gas and transportation rates still have meager subsidies in some segments of users, and the State still does not have reliable data on the real costs of these sectors,” he said.

Along these lines, Cristina Kirchner referred to an “undeniable tragedy.” And in the framework of her analysis, she added: “If we add to this way of managing the four prices of the economy Milei’s fiscal adjustment – which is inconsistent and unsustainable because it is achieved through non-payment of debts due to the central administration and the withdrawal of the State from the functions essential for the very survival of the country as a Nation – a lethal combination is produced .”
