After weeks without definitions, Congress will have 48 hours of tension between tomorrow and Friday. Although both days should not generate major problems, the main nerve of both days will be the mega Decree of Necessity and Urgency (DNU) that deregulates the economy .
On Thursday, the bicameral Legislative Procedure commission - which analyzes the DNU - will vote on its authorities, as Infobae announced this Monday. The meeting will be simple since it has the character of a “constitutive meeting” to “designate the authorities”, so there will be no agenda of topics to be discussed .
This scenario will not be an obstacle for Kirchnerism , which in the Senate requested special sessions in recent weeks to go to the premises and reject the mega DNU. The problem that the Frente de Todos has, led by José Mayans from Formosa , is that the rest of the opposition does not want - for now - to be attached to Christianity in its legislative strategy .
The vice president and head of the Upper House, Victoria Villarruel , did not validate the requests for special sessions of the Frente de Todos based on the regulations - she has the power to set the day and time - and bore the political cost of those decisions. A trap in which she was left by the anti-K opposition, which suggested this way to avoid being exposed to not having a quorum.

As for the bicameral, Deputies will be represented - Martín Menem delayed - by the ruling party Oscar Zago - block head - and Lisandro Almirón ; the Kirchnerists Vanesa Siley , Ramiro Gutiérrez -responds to Sergio Massa - and Carolina Gaillard -chaired the commission of the failed impeachment trial against the Supreme Court last year-; the macrista Hernán Lombardi ; the radical Francisco Monti and Nicolás Massot (We Make the Federal Coalition).

For its part, the Senate weeks ago appointed the libertarian Juan Carlos Pagotto ; the Kirchnerists Anabel Fernández Sagasti, Mariano Recalde and María Teresa González ; the radical Victor Zimmermann ; the macrista Luis Juez ; and the dissident Peronists Juan Carlos Romero (Cambio Federal) and Carlos Espínola (Unidad Federal).
In this way, the bicameral of 16 legislators will be made up of eight deputies and eight senators. As this year it falls to the Upper House, it is expected that the presidency will be in the hands of the libertarian Pagotto (La Rioja), who will have the possibility of breaking the tie . Beyond this, since 10 days have passed to process the mega DNU since it entered Congress, it can go directly to both venues. He needs their rejection to be deactivated, something that never happened .
After the fall of the omnibus law in the Deputies and the Christian pressure in the Senate, plus the complaints that will surely arise in the bicameral, attention will be focused on the official defense. The magnifying glass will be directed towards Pagotto, Zago and Almirón, in the midst of delicate balances that La Libertad Avanza attempts with other political forces that are constantly reviled by Javier Milei .
The dissident Peronist senator Juan Carlos Romero
A day later, the Senate will hold its preparatory session, where the ruling party and the non-Kirchnerist opposition hope to ratify the authorities voted on last December 13, when a conglomerate of 39 legislators put aside the Kirchnerist claims as the first minority and distributed positions and the integration of the commissions.
For the meeting at the venue, it is ruled out that the Frente de Todos will once again install the mega DNU. Something impossible, due to the purpose of the preparatory session . What Christianity still does not define is how many legislators will be willing to take the floor to request issues of privilege against Villarruel, and how the head of the upper house will handle the times and regulatory issues.
Looking ahead to the next few weeks, the ruling party will have to decide whether to use the bicameral to first discuss all the DNU that Kirchnerism never dealt with and were pending from the previous Government, with the aim of delaying the treatment of the norm executed by the current administration to deregulate the economy.
All of this will be embraced by a momentous day for Congress. On March 1, Milei has to inaugurate the new period of ordinary sessions before the Legislative Assembly. All political spaces await that speech and its potential consequences .
