The Argentine Confederation of Transport Workers clarified that next Monday the unions in the sector will hold assemblies in their workplaces, which "in no way represent direct action measures or a stoppage of activities . "

In this way, he clarified the scope of the protests that Juan Carlos Schmid, deputy general secretary of the CATT , had announced on social networks , who had assured that air, land, port and maritime transport would be interrupted in rejection of the fiscal package voted on Tuesday in the Chamber of Deputies.

Taking into account the level of repercussion that Schmid's words had, the CATT shared a clarifying text in which they cite what was resolved in the last plenary session of the Confederation . “On April 16 of this year, this Confederation issued a press release in which the public was informed that “Attentive to the provisions of the Board of Directors of the Argentine Confederation of Transport Workers (CATT) in the National Plenary held on March 26 of this year, in which it was decided to hold assemblies in different activities represented by the organizations grouped in this Confederation, it is reported that on Monday, May 6, between 9 and 11, Assemblies will be held in work sectors of all modes of transportation,” they reported in the statement.

But they clarified: "These Assemblies in no way represent direct action measures or a stoppage of activities , reiterating that, on this occasion, each Union or Organization grouped in the CATT, will establish the methodology to be carried out and will report on the matter to estimate thus corresponds.”

In the text, which is signed by the Board of Directors, they shared the objective of the convened assemblies. “Based on what was resolved by the National Plenary of this Confederation on March 26 of this year, a decision ratified in Point 6 of the Resolution of the Board of Directors, the holding of 'assemblies in each of the activities represented by the organizations grouped in this Confederation', with the purpose of reporting on the efforts, proposals and claims that we are carrying out , in Defense of the Transportation System in all its modes and of the workers as a whole in this current context, the Tax on Profits, among others and 'where each Union will determine the methodology in this regard.'”

In dialogue with Infobae , Sergio Sasia , general secretary of the CATT, expressed: “What was resolved is what the statement clearly says. Based on the CATT plenary session that was held in a timely manner, it was decided to hold assemblies on different topics and the agenda that is behind schedule . And each union or activity implements the methodology that it believes is most convenient for this.” And he added: “In the plenary session it was also decided to follow the agenda of the CGT ,” a union that called for a general strike on May 9 .

Sasia is also general secretary of the Railway Union. He anticipated that on May 6 the railway unions will not block the normal circulation of trains. Yes, an information and awareness campaign will be carried out on the sector's claims.

The warning from the national government

In his usual press conference, the presidential spokesperson, Manuel Adorni, made reference to the possible transportation strike that was going to take place on Monday, May 6. “ We are evaluating, probably tomorrow we will tell you the measures we are going to take ,” said the official.

And he added: “The idea is to guarantee that everyone who wants to mobilize, especially those who go to their workplaces, can do so. That was discussed today at the Cabinet meeting. "Everything is under study and the sanctions are part of the evaluation we make when this type of nonsense occurs."
