The action will be carried out in endemic areas and according to the epidemiological situation. The target population will be people between 15 and 39 years old.
The national government, through the Ministry of Health led by Mario Russo , will advance a vaccination plan against dengue in an operation that will be coordinated with the provinces and that will target endemic areas and according to the epidemiological situation.
Strictly speaking, it is not a vaccine that will be added to the National Calendar for all jurisdictions in the country, but rather "it is proposed as a focused strategy" in certain areas and will have people between 15 and 39 years old as its target population.
Russo, accompanied by the representative of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) in Argentina, Eva Llopis and the president of the National Immunization Commission (Conain) , Angela Gentile, presented the Work Plan for the comprehensive approach to Dengue 2024-2025 . After reviewing the current epidemiological situation, they explained the focused vaccination strategy, following the recommendations of Conain and in coordination with the provinces.
"As we have been saying since we took office, we are always going to rely on scientific evidence and data to make decisions. Today we have Conain 's recommendations and we are going to define together with the provinces the immunization strategy focused on endemic areas and high circulation, as one more tool within the Comprehensive Plan that we are presenting," said Minister Russo.
The campaign will begin in stages with the population between 15 and 19 years old and will advance in a dynamic, progressive, and staggered manner according to the availability of vaccines and according to the strategies already implemented by the jurisdictions. "It is essential to start before the period of greatest viral circulation in order to complete the planned scheme and the prioritization of the HIV-positive population, from the communication point of view, in the selected jurisdictions," said the Government. The strategies for its implementation will be defined together with the provinces in an upcoming meeting.
In this direction, jurisdictions will be strengthened through the transfer of resources for meeting goals and the work carried out in the territory for vector control and epidemiological surveillance, through the National Network for Dengue Diagnosis and others. Arboviruses.
Regarding patient care, the Provincial Clinical Reference Network and the Guidelines Guide for the reorganization of health services in situations of dengue outbreaks or epidemics were launched.
