Grupo Das - Footwear manufacturing plant shutdown represents 360 layoffs

Yet more and more companies and manufacturing plants closing down. Because of the artificially high exchange rate and the peso being too strong it doesn't make sense for companies to produce here. We will probably see tons more manufacturing plants closing now that Argentina opened the floodgates for cheap imports.

I heard the Eldorado plant will also close by the end of 2025. I can't see many companies wanting to manufacture stuff in Argentina unless they can get the costs down. Peso is strong, labor is going to get more expensive too. Better off making them in Brazil or elsewhere.

I think these type of manufacturing plants are totally cooked now. Local companies don't know how to lower prices. Now with the peso overvalued local companies can't be profitable against companies in Brazil.

Poor employees that lost their jobs. Are other places hiring lots of employees now? Seems like a lot of people are still losing jobs. A few girls I met all llst jobs a few months ago and still haven't found a new one. Now the government is ending contract for tens of thousands more. Seems like this will be a drag on the economy too.
