The Hot Sale 2024 has begun and there is expectation in the eCommerce sector for this new edition of the 3-day event that offers discounts, promotions and interest-free installments. It will start this Monday and will last until May 15.

The tenth edition of this event, organized by the Argentine Chamber of Electronic Commerce (CACE), will have the participation of 984 brands, among which 120 will make their debut. In turn, 276 are companies based in various provinces in the interior of the country, with Córdoba, Santa Fe, Tucumán and Mendoza standing out as the provinces with the greatest representation.

Likewise, the Hot Sale offers eleven product categories available: Electro and Tecno; Trips; Furniture, Home and Deco; Clothing and Footwear; Sports and Fitness; Supermarket; Health & Beauty; Motorcycles and cars; Babies and Children; Several; and Service.

Users will find more than 15,000 products in the MegaOffers section. Among the most notable benefits are 2x1 promotions, significant discounts, refunds of up to 30% and the possibility of paying in up to 18 installments on a wide variety of products and services.

“We monitored the fifteen thousand mega offers on the site during this week and we looked at them during the event. If we notice that there is a change in the base price, or that the discount is less than 10% or 5% in three installments, we lower the offer and notify the company to correct it to raise it again," said Gustavo Sambucetti, president of CACE.

Banks will also join in with refunds, various interest-free installments, promotions and discounts.

In the rush to buy, some issues are often not taken into account. For this reason, Consumer Defense recommended: investigate before buying, compare prices, verify payment, return and warranty policies; Protect your personal data and be aware of false promotions.

It is also important to note that all web pages that offer products or services must highlight and make the “regret button” link visible . This allows the consumer to easily revoke the purchase if they regret it within a period of 10 calendar days from the delivery of the product or the conclusion of the contract. Return costs are the responsibility of the supplier.

Trends

Regarding consumer trends for this year, according to Google, 20% of those surveyed plan to buy products in more than one category, with Technology and Clothing leading the ranking and concentrating 55%, followed by Furniture, Deco , Remodeling and Construction with 13%, Food and Beverages (12.7%), Tourism and travel (12.2%) and Beauty and personal care (10%).

"Something we detected is that people are more open to trying new brands: 70% are willing to buy a brand for the first time or in a new store and 57% highlight the price-quality relationship as the most valued thing when taking this decision. This is undoubtedly a great opportunity for retailers to be present with personalized offers,” said Evangelina Suárez , Commercial Director of the Retail Industry for Google Argentina.

Yuriko Huayana , vice president of Sales Latam at VTEX, said: “Based on the data and trends presented by CACE and taking into account the movement of our VTEX clients in the first quarter, we expect good performance for categories such as Food, Home and Furniture, as well as Electronics and Telephony”.

"In recent days we have recorded that the items with the greatest movement have been: Food and beverages, Home and Furniture, Fashion and Clothing, Technology, among the main ones and we believe that this trend could continue in Hot Sale," said Juan Pablo Parody, CEO from PrestoTienda.

Security advice

Consumer Defense of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires issued 5 preventions to buy safely, among them:

  • Research before buying: Before clicking, make sure you are looking at the desired product. In distance shopping it is key to take into account sizes or sizes of the products; Images can be confusing. You have to pay attention to the description of each product. Some clothing brands offer a size guide that can be very useful before purchasing any clothing.
  • Compare prices: Don't stick with the first offer but compare the offers on different websites to get the best possible one.
  • Check payment, return and warranty policies: Paying attention to the fine print is essential. Promotions can be limited to a stock and discounts have a limit. It is worth examining the terms and conditions of the offers and reading the return and warranty policies and, when making the payment, be attentive to take advantage of the discounts that businesses offer with different payment methods or loyalty cards. No merchant can establish an extra charge if the consumer chooses to pay with a debit card or in a single payment with a credit card.
  • Protect personal data: Use secure websites and avoid sharing personal or financial information on untrustworthy sites. Verify the security of the page (the web address must begin with https:// and be accompanied by a padlock symbol). If these are unknown products or sellers, check their score and read the comments of previous buyers.
  • Beware of fake promotions: Carefully examine offers that seem too good and verify the authenticity of the websites before making a purchase.
