Is there a limit to how much you can recieve at Western Union?

Do you have your DNI here? If not, there is no reason to worry about getting flagged. Most people that are worried are people that have their DNIs because they aren't declaring any income with AFIP but tourists don't have problems. How much are you trying to send? Buying electronics here isn't wise. They are completely overpriced as it sounds like you know.

I have sent myself up to $5,000 dollars worth of pesos so you shouldn't have a problem. You might have to send it in batches as sometimes they don't allow such large amounts at one time. Once I split it up $2,000 and $3,000 to break it up.

I need to buy a laptop (yes I know they are horribly overpriced here). Is it a bad idea to make a large withdrawal at Western Union ? As far as getting flagged in the system and then possibly having problems later on
Keep in mind some WU offices have an annual limit how much you can get pre year. I don't send in large amounts like this with WU as the cost typically is higher than using a cueva. What kind of laptop do you need? It is usually cheaper to fly to Paraguay to buy it. Even Uruguay might be cheaper than buying it here. The import taxes here are horrible.

Depending on how much you are sending, you might want to use a cueva. How much is your laptop?

I have not had a problem sending in a large WU payment. They might ask you what the motive is for sending the funds. Lately WU is asking for a reason each time I am sending money to someone or myself. But I just fill it in and send. It will probably ask you to upload and verify your identify with your Passport. Getting flagged in the system should only be a concern if you're a resident here and have a DNI. If so, you might have issues if you're not declaring that money. They might synch with AFIP later and see if you have the income to support large purchases and transfers.

Computers here are way over priced. I bought my last one in Montevideo. It wasn't too bad. Here was the store I bought it at.

Check out the threads. There were a few posts about WU limits. Here is one from earlier this year.

What kind of laptop? Unless it's a Macbook you can sometimes find them here too for not the crazy mark-ups like Apple products. But usually it's worth it to fly to the USA if you have to go for something and bring it back if it's a Mac. Or you can fly to Paraguay for some deals.

There were some posts on another thread of local reputable stores if you do a search you should find them.
