President Javier Milei today redoubled his criticism against the governor of Chubut, Ignacio “Nacho” Torres , describing him as “a boy” who “can't even read a contract.” From the United States, and after giving a speech at the Conservative Summit in Washington, the Head of State assured: “Evidently, he is a victim of the deterioration of Argentine education.”

“Nachito doesn't see it, he's a poor boy who couldn't even read a contract, he's very intellectually precarious ,” he insisted, speaking to LN+. And he added: “The province took on debt against a co-participation guarantee, so when the operation is set up, when the co-participation is deposited, which is done continuously, the part affected by the debt is extracted and the remainder arrives. "It's not my fault that the boy can't read a text and understand it."

Thus, the President once again escalated the tension in the midst of the dispute he maintains with the provincial governors , following the offensive by the governor of Chubut to not send oil until the national government reimburses the funds corresponding to the co-participation.

Milei, in addition, also questioned the governors who supported Torres' claim: “They were exposed, the side that (Axel) Kicillof or (Ricardo) Quintela , those boys who are part of the past. They are claiming that they do not want to adjust and they want to pass the adjustment on to the rest of the Argentines,” she said.

Last Friday, Torres published a letter that also bore the signature of the governors of La Pampa ( Sergio Ziliotto ), Neuquén ( Rolando Figueroa ), Tierra del Fuego ( Gustavo Melella ), Santa Cruz ( Claudio Vidal ) and Río Negro ( Alberto Weretilneck “If the Ministry of Economy does not deliver its resources to Chubut, then Chubut will not deliver its oil and gas ,” he maintained at that time. Later, leaders from the rest of the country agreed.

“Chubut spends very heavily on official spending, on festivals; Prior to this situation, the legislators raised their allowances to 2 and a half million pesos per month, how come there is no money? Theirs is not touched and they try to throw the burden of adjustment on the national government,” Milei insisted. And she completed ironically: “It is a very cabotage discussion, I come from being at an international convention, I come from playing in the Champions League final , and coming to discuss with amateurs who don't know how to read…”.

Asked about the possibility of Chubut retaining oil production, the President maintained that this type of action “would involve violating property rights; "Threatening the rest of the Argentines is a crime and not understanding how the market works."

In addition to intervening in the local conflict, the President dedicated his last 48 hours to strengthening his government's foreign policy. After meeting at Casa Rosada with the Secretary of State of the United States, Antony Blinken , Joseph Biden 's head of diplomacy , he left for Washington to participate in the Conservative Summit that had former President Donald Trump as its star speaker.

Both Trump and Milei had a brief meeting, including a hug, documented with photos and video. The US businessman and politician did not skimp on praise : “There are many international leaders here and I want to thank them for being here,” he said at the beginning of his speech. And he continued: “I want to thank the president of Argentina, who had a lot of publicity. He is a great man, he is MAGA, Make Argentina Great Again . He can do it well. Javier Milei. Thank you Milei, thank you very much, it is a great honor to have you here,” he said, emphatically, with an allusion to the campaign slogan that led him to the presidency.

In turn, the Argentine president returned to the controversial ideas that he had raised at the Davos Forum weeks ago, and pointed out again and harshly against the proposals of “socialism”, “statism” and “populism”; and he called on Republicans to “fight for freedom.”

Milei spoke at length in the hall located in the American capital, amid harangues from those present, who applauded and cheered him in different sections of his speech, especially the most aggressive ones against ideas contrary to the extreme right in the economic field. “Given the impact of the conference in Davos, in which I pointed out that the West is in danger due to the advance of statist and socialist ideas, I will focus on the technical foundations that supported those political assessments of that conference. I will focus on how the neoclassical economics of market failure is functional to the advance of statism and how this destroys economic growth, putting a brake on improvements in well-being and the fight against poverty," the head of state began his speech, in front of dozens of Republican supporters aligned with Trump.
