Milei talks about the Davos Forum before landing in Frankfurt
(Special envoy to Davos) The president Javier Milei arrived this morning in Zurich, Switzerland, and from there he will go to Davos, where he will participate in the World Economic Forum, which marks his first trip abroad since he has been at the head of the House Pink.
Milei and his entourage made a previous stopover in Frankfurt, Germany, and from there they took another flight to Switzerland, a city where they arrived at 10:27 in Argentina (2:27 p.m. local time). From there she will move to the Grandhotel Belvedere in Davos.
The president traveled accompanied by the chancellor Diana Mondino, the Secretary General of the Presidency, Karina Milei, the Chief of Staff, Nicolás Posse, the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo.
The flight to the German airport was pleasant, the dinner was frugal and Milei slept fitfully. When she was awake she talked with her entourage and she finished reading the Austrolibertarian Manifesto.
After breakfast and an hour after landing in Frankfurt, an obligatory stopover on the way to the Davos Economic Forum, Milei appeared in the tourist class with her best smile. “Hello, how are you doing?” she greeted.
From that moment on, and for thirty minutes straight, I couldn't stop taking selfies, recording videos, and listening to comments from passengers who were surprised by the situation.
-Do things right, and I'll come back-, a lady told him.
-We are going to do it well-, answered the president.
And so he maintained several dialogues until his sister Karina Milei, who was one step behind, told him that he had to return to Business to begin the landing.
Milei greets people on flight to Davos
During the tour of the plane, Milei also agreed to speak for a moment with Infobae.
-What is the objective of the trip to Davos?
- Planting the ideas of freedom in a forum that is contaminated by the 2030 socialist agenda and that the only thing it will bring is misery to the world.
- What will Wednesday's exhibition be based on?
- That freedom is the key to prosperity
- What is the meaning of the meeting with Kristalina Georgieva?
- “Continue talking and making clear the conviction we have in this change of directiono that the new Government has marked.”
On this occasion, Davos proposes a multifaceted agenda includes the conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine, the elections in the United States, the impact of climate change, the need to create jobs and the use of Intelligence Artificial (AI) as an engine of development in modern societies.
President Javier Milei arrives in Zurich (Switzerland).
Milei will present tomorrow, and his presentation has a leitmotiv that reflects his personal ideology: “ Freedom, the key to prosperity.” The president will be accompanied by Klaus Schwab, founder of the Davos Forum, and a full house is expected.
That day the Secretary of State Antony Blinken will also speak; the Secretary General of the United Nations (UN), Antonio Guterres; the Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sánchez; and the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
When he finishes presenting at the Forum, Milei will meet with Kristalina Georgieva, managing director of the IMF. Georgieva will arrive at the meeting with Gita Gopinath -vice managing director-, while the president will attend accompanied by Posse, Caputo and Werthein.
Milei will thank the managing director for her willingness to close the agreement with Argentina and will explain her roadmap to adjust the State, reduce the inflation and increase GDP. “Kristalina played well for us,” the President always comments at the Casa Rosada.
In turn, Georgieva will ask if the Omnibus Law and the DNU will be approved in Congress, two key initiatives that Caputo used as a political argument to achieve the disbursement of 4.7 billion dollars that the IMF board will authorize before the end of January.
Milei has arranged an appointment with Emmanuel Macron at the Forum headquarters, although there is still no set time. In the jargon of diplomacy, Milei and Macron will star in a pull aside, which will happen on January 17 before dinner. An open agenda is expected and it is very likely that they will discuss the side letter that is being negotiated to revamp the commercial terms of the Mercosur-European Union agreement.
The Casa Rosada protocol received about 80 requests for an audience with the President, and Milei decided to divide the work. Posse, Mondino and Caputo will take meetings with businessmen, bankers, investors and certain representatives of governments and multilateral organizations, while the head of state will only receive Georgieva and Macron.
Chancellor Mondino will meet with the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom, David Cameron; the Vice President of External Affairs for the Americas by Massalin Particulares, Matias O' Farrell, and the Chancellor of Lithuania, Gabrielius Lansbergis, among other activities.
Posse and Caputo will participate in the meeting with Georgieva and will share a working dinner convened to analyze the impact of emerging technologies and artificial intelligence. In addition, the Chief of Staff and the Minister of Economy will hold meetings with global companies that already invest in Argentina.
On the morning of January 19, Milei will return to Buenos Aires.
