My wife and I had reservations for Menagano which we heard was amazing. We get there at 8 PM and it turns out my wife made it for the wrong day. We just wanted to eat somewhere close so we hit La Cabrera. We've been here dozens of times before but the last time was last year. It's funny as they give you these huge menus but they don't have the prices on the big menu they give you. They have a QR code and it surprising to see empanadas are 14,300 pesos each ($12 USD). But when we got to the actual steak prices it wasn't bad. In line with other places in Palermo which was actually surprising considering it's almost all tourists at this restaurant.
The portions are actually good size. We got a water, an Aperol Spritz, Lemonade, 1/2 chorizo, proveleta, french fries and a big portion of Asado de Centro. It was 124,800 pesos ($114 USD) before tip which is about 1/3 the price for something we would pay at home for the same thing. I thought the steak prices were reasonable for the location. Some of the other dishes like Mollejas was more than usual at 45,600 pesos.
Always great service here. The place was packed with mostly tourists. It was comical as there was an American party of 4 next to us and they were looking at the menu and then looked at the QR code and saw the prices and got up and left. The waiter looked puzzled. I think they just saw the first page of empanadas at $14,300 pesos and left. But the steak prices weren't much different than most places in Palermo.
The asado de centro was really delicious. It's funny as the bill clearly says "Tip not included - ONLY CASH" but I asked if I could leave a tip on a credit card and he said no problem. LIke other places you just needed to do it separately but they used the same terminal. Progress in getting cash eliminated from transactions.
