"Little Russia" in Buenos Aires - All the Russians Near Alto Palermo Shopping Mall

It is interesting just how many Russians are in Buenos Aires. And they seem to all end up in the same area. I had dinner with one of my best friends in Buenos Aires and she is going through a divorce so she rented an apartment close to her house near Alto Palermo Shopping Mall.

It's a very nice building and she said it's about 75% full of Russians. She said they are all in that area near Alto Palermo Mall in Palermo.

Does anyone know why they all ended up in this area? I assume they come here and through word of mouth all want to be in the same area.

She said she feels like she is in the movie, The Handmaid's Tale. She said all the females all have little kids and are pregnant. She said almost every one.

Must be anchor babies so they can get citizenship. She said they are nice enough but it feels a bit weird.

I already saw a LOT of Russians in this area when I was there last year. Funny you mentioned it as I saw many pregnant Russians too. I could hear them speaking on the street. Seems like this is picking up based on your post.

There are quite a few over near Hospital Aleman in Recoleta also. I walk around over there and always see them there too.
One of the lady that I took care of went into the Hospital Aleman and you are right Betsy I heard a lot of Russian. I'm not sure if they live in the area but I saw many in that area too.

I live right there and you are right so many Russian women pushing their kids around in strollers. I always wonder where their husbands are. Do they have work visas? What do they work in ?
I wonder the same thing. I often times see the women pushing strollers around with kids but I often don't see the fathers either. I assume maybe they are out working normal jobs or maybe working online? I wondered how easily they assimilate into the culture here. I heard some of the Russians have a trade or learning them. There is a big need here for honest and hardworking people. That is lacking here.
