The Banking Association confirmed that it will comply with the general strike called by the CGT and announced that for this reason there will be no attention in any financial institution in the country. “Because the economic policy carried out by the National Government does not stop harming workers and the people as a whole, while shamelessly favoring large businessmen, economic groups and royal power, the Banking Association adheres to the measure of force available by the General Confederation of Labor,” they said from the union led by Sergio Palazzo .

Among the arguments indicated, the union pointed out against the “ regressive labor reform that takes away workers' rights; the reinstatement of the income tax ; a pension reform that punishes our retirees; the advance of privatizations or disappearances of public organizations; a Base Law and a DNU that does not have a single measure in favor of workers; the fall in the purchasing power of wages; the waves of layoffs and growing unemployment; the unprecedented wild adjustment ; a national industry that tends to disappear; and contempt for culture, health and public education.”

Online operation

Sector sources confirmed to Infobae that, beyond the strike affecting in-person service, the rest of the banking services such as home banking, applications, ATM network recharge will function normally .

What is the withdrawal limit at ATMs?

Current regulations require banks to allow free withdrawals of up to $15,000 to each user, in a rule that has not been updated since the pandemic. This is the limit that banks usually impose on withdrawals made by non-customers or with debit cards from other entities. To their own clients and with plastics issued by themselves, financial institutions usually grant higher limits, agreed with the client.

In summary, you can withdraw up to $15,000 from any ATM. For larger amounts, it is advisable to use an ATM of the bank of which you are a customer.

What about the rest of the services

Schools : the main teaching unions, such as Suteba or Ceterea, or private ones such as Sadop, announced in recent days that they will bow to the measure of force, so there will be no classes in most schools .

Shops : the Argentine Federation of Commerce and Services Employees (FAECyS) folded and some stores will remain closed during the day . “Aligned with the claims and demands of the Labor Movement, commercial workers have decided to stop in defense of sources of work , of the national industry and in defense of the Argentine pension system,” said the head of the union, Armando Cavalieri .

Health : the Health union, headed by Héctor Daer in private hospitals , as well as organizations that work in public health , adhered to the measure of force. In this way, only the emergency service will be maintained, as usually happens in these situations.

Buses, trains and subways : all public transport services will be affected by the union force measure. This was announced by the different unions in the sector. From the Automotive Tram Union (UTA), the union led by Roberto Fernández, asserted their position of joining the strike. In this way, the buses will not operate throughout the day, that is, from midnight on Thursday until midnight.

“We inform that as a consequence of the measures of the National Government taken directly against the working people, and openly aimed at violating basic individual rights, La Unión Tranviarios Automotor joins the claim of the entire society, and adheres to the measure ordered by the CGT ”, specified its publication.

And they added: “We ask the authorities who have in their hands the decisions that are affecting the lives of the vast majority of the People, to reflect and understand the scope of the mandate that was granted to the Executive and Legislative powers, and that, based on in this and in compliance with the National Constitution, act accordingly, in defense of the interests and well-being of all Argentines."

Meanwhile, the Union Association of Subway and Premetro Workers also joined the general strike. “From the Union Association of Subway and Premetro Workers (AGTSyP - Metrodelegadxs) we adhere to the national strike called by the CTA of Workers, the CGT and the Autonomous CTA,” they officially reported.

There will also be no train service, given that the main unions, such as Unión Ferroviaria, confirmed that they will join the strike. La Fraternidad did the same, expressing in a statement: “We find ourselves once again under the siege of an indolent government that plans to hand over the country to its financial capital partners, through a disastrous neocolonial law that leads Argentina to go backwards in terms of development and sovereignty.”

Flights : different unions and companies associated with air activity will adhere to the force measures, so airline companies are having to reschedule flights. As Infobae learned , the fact that Intercargo – a key company for the ground services needed by aircraft – adheres to the strike will mean that airlines will not be able to operate except for those that have their own ramp personnel. This is the case of only two airline companies, American Airlines and Flybondi, and in the case of Buenos Aires they can only do so from the Ezeiza airport.
