The still positive image of Javier Milei , despite the “ blender ” and the “ chainsaw , ” the adjustment implemented to balance the economy and the cornerstone of his political credibility, is a common denominator in opinion polls. But the latest report from the consulting firm Opina Argentina , in addition to ratifying this trend, warned that there is a growing preference in society for the libertarian leader to negotiate and agree with the opposition.

According to the survey, Milei's positive image differential shrank from 10 points at the beginning of the administration to 8 points in April. However, it is highlighted that the President “ continues to have a considerably high rating”, of 51% , with majority support among men (53%), young people (68%) and the group with the lowest purchasing power (64%).

The survey was carried out in the first days of this month, in a universe of more than 6,500 cases. In one of its points it aims to measure the impact of the so-called May Pact , Milei's call to the governors to converge on a series of points with the idea of achieving parliamentary endorsement for the new omnibus law that it will present in Congress.

In this framework, a growth of 11 points is reflected in the perception that Milei should negotiate and agree with the opposition (69%), while a contrary attitude loses 10 points (27%). On the other hand, the preference for an opposition that collaborates with the Government continues to be the majority (52%).

In another section, the report mentions the perception of the last military government. On March 24, the national government presented a video in which it highlights the need to understand the “ complete history ” of those years, and endorses the historical trend that denies the number of 30,000 missing persons . This view, which states that between 1976 and 1983 there was a war between two sides, has 44% support. Three out of every 4 voters from Bullrich and Milei in the October elections subscribe to this framework.

Negotiation for the Bases Law

As reported by Infobae , the Government will send this week a draft of the new Base Law to governors and bloc presidents in Deputies, which will include the modifications that were agreed upon during successive meetings with opposition leaders.

Once all parties give their approval, the initiative will be sent for parliamentary treatment, although in Balcarce 50 they consider that it is only a formality, since there would be no more meetings with leaders of other parties or changes than those already they spoke

President Javier Milei 's idea continues to be that the reforms enter the Lower House as soon as possible so that by the middle of this month they can be discussed in the plenary session of committees and, at the end of April, they will be voted on in the chamber.

Despite the multiple meetings with various representatives of the PRO, the UCR and provincial spaces, a consensus has not yet been reached on some important articles of the law, such as the floor from which the payment begins. Income tax, which the ruling party wants to lower again.

In fact, the issue was discussed in the last meeting held by the Chief of Staff, Nicolás Posse , and the Minister of the Interior, Guillermo Francos , with governors of Together for Change last Thursday, as acknowledged by people who participated in the conclave.

Although different figures were analyzed to establish the non-taxable base of this tax, the leaders did not reach a conclusion either with the national authorities or among themselves, since those from the north demand that the fourth category be implemented again, while the from the south they reject it.
