The fight between the national government and the governors added a new chapter now in the National Congress . The senators of the provincial blocks sent a letter to the president of the Senate, Victoria Villarruel, asking her to call a special session to discuss Decree of Necessity and Urgency 70.

After the Kirchnerist bloc requested on three occasions a special session to discuss in the Upper House the mega decree that deregulates the economy by repealing more than 80 laws, and which was rejected , now the senators “from the middle” joined the request. who are not part of Unión por la Patria, La Libertad Avanza and the PRO.

The letter asking Villarruel to convene a special session in accordance with articles 19 and 20 of the regulations is signed by Alejandra Vigo (Córdoba), Eduardo Kuider (Entre Ríos), Carlos Espinola (Corrientes); all members of the Federal Unity bloc. These are joined by missionaries Carlos Arce and Sonia Rojas Decut of the Renewing Front of Social Concord, Monica Silva of Together We Are Río Negro and Santa Cruzans Natalia Gadano and José María Carambia .

The most striking thing is that the radical and vice president of the bloc in the Upper House, Fuegian Pablo Daniel Blanco , joins the request .

Another peculiarity that the request presents is that one of the signatories, Espínola, from Corrientes, is part of the Bicameral Commission for Legislative Treatment, the space that was formed last week to debate the DNU and that plans to meet again next Thursday.

The request turns on all the alarm lights of the ruling party , which until now had been blocking the requests made by Kirchnerism to open the premises, arguing that the deadlines for the decree to be debated in the Commission had been met.

The Unión por la Patria bloc has 33 senators so now, taking into account this request from the provincial blocs, it could add nine votes which would leave a majority of 42 will to reject the DNU that is in force.

The vice president used her X account to reply to the opposition senators who seek to meet to reject the DNU that deregulates the economy
But they would not be the only ones in the room who would vote against the decree since several radicals announced that they oppose the modification and repeal of several laws by decree.

Just three days ago, on Friday at noon, the Senate met to elect its authorities and the Unión por la Patria bloc dedicated 15 issues of privileges to the president of the Chamber, Victoria Villarruel, for denying the request to have special sessions to debate the DNU. In that instance, the provincial blocks remained silent.

In the afternoon the conflict with Chubut broke out and one by one the provinces - except Tucumán - were supporting the position of the Patagonian governor Ignacio Torres who angrily rejected the withdrawal of the co-participation that the Nation applied to him.

The dialectical escalation between the national government and the governors, who were designated interchangeably as “Chavistas” and “fiscal degenerators,” would be one of the causes of the change in tone of the provincial legislators who decided to advance a request for a special session and put pressure on the strategy of the La Libertad Avanza administration to ensure that DNU 70/2023 continues to apply.

Now the response from the Presidency of the Chamber is awaited but the scenario seems gloomy because as of March 1 the ordinary sessions begin and, with this support, Kirchnerism could manage to introduce the treatment of the Decree of Necessity into the agenda of any session. and Urgency and obtain the negative vote of the Chamber of Senators of the Nation.

Is Milei doesn't end up succeeding do you believe that he can successfully argue it was because he wasn't allowed to provide Argentina with the change it needed? Who will be blamed? Him or the Senate/Congress that prevented it?
