The chancellor is in permanent contact with the Argentine ambassador in Madrid. There has not yet been direct dialogue with the Spanish Government and the Casa Rosada will not depose its position. The tension with Madrid occurs in the midst of negotiations with the European Union for access to NATO and the OECD

Mondino is closely following the conflict with Spain, but Milei does not intend to apologize and demands a retraction from Pedro Sánchez

The magnitude of the diplomatic tension between Spain and Argentina in recent hours has no similar precedents in the long history of the relationship between both nations. Neither of the two governments adopts an attitude that tends to de-escalate the conflict. On the contrary, the Casa Rosada refuses to issue an apology and demands a retraction from Pedro Sánchez , president of Spain. “ There is nothing we have to apologize about. "They started this by attacking President (Javier) Milei," an official from Balcarce 50 who frequents the Head of State told Infobae .

The statements show that Argentina will not twist its arm at the intersection of diatribes between Milei and the Moncloa Palace. In the Government they slip that the Spanish president uses the conflict with the leader of La Libertad Avanza to position his country's parliamentarians days before the European Parliament elections . Liberal and right-wing parties aspire to make an election that will allow them to add political volume in the sovereign body of the European Union.

President Sánchez knows this panorama and finds in his Argentine counterpart a leader with whom he can polarize to strengthen his progressive discourse. Milei's closeness to Vox and its leader, Santiago Abascal , gives him arguments in that sense.

Diana Mondino, chancellor of Argentina, closely follows the conflict unleashed by the crossing between Pedro Sánchez, president of Spain, and Javier Milei

At this time, Balcarce 50 did not acknowledge receipt of Spain's decision to withdraw its ambassador. After the conflict with Milei, José Manuel Albares Bueno , Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain, gave the order to call the diplomatic representative of his country for “ sine die consultation.” María Jesús Alonso Jiménez, representative of the Spanish Government in Buenos Aires, arrived in Madrid today to appear before this measure.

Milei will not make any political gesture to ease the tension with Sánchez. She will even maintain her narrative line and demand an apology from Madrid. It is something that will not happen, as Infobae learned through advisors who visit the Moncloa Palace. The Spanish Foreign Minister warned today that they will appeal to the European Union to exert diplomatic pressure on the Casa Rosada. “Let them do what they consider. We did not start this and the President did not speak against Spain, but freely expressed his ideas,” they distance themselves from the libertarian Head of State.

Diana Mondino, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Argentina, received the news mid-flight. She was returning from the United States after a tour of special importance to Buenos Aires. She negotiated with top officials in the Oval Office to deepen alignment with the White House and pave the way for fresh funds for the country.

The Argentine ambassador to Spain, Roberto Bosch, after his meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares (Diego Radamés - Europa Press)

The head of Argentine diplomacy remains in permanent contact with Alberto Bosch , Argentina's ambassador in Madrid, takes notes and issues directives. At the moment, there were no contacts with her Spanish partner, Albares. “No bilateral is planned at the moment,” they detailed to this medium from the San Martín Palace. The dialogue with Spain takes place through Bosch, who this morning met with Pedro Sánchez's Minister of Foreign Affairs.

As Infobae reported , Milei will not only maintain his position but on June 21 he will travel to Spain again. She will be the one to receive an award from the Juan de Mariana Institute. It is, perhaps, a possibility of generating an institutional meeting between both leaders. However, there is no indication that a bilateral will take place. It is a scenario, in fact, that seems like a utopia.

Aside from the tension between Milei and Sánchez, the conflict with Spain has a geopolitical correlation for Argentina. Two of the main flags raised by the Government in foreign policy are the accession processes to NATO as a “global partner” and to the OECD as a permanent member.

Both procedures involve no less than three years. In the case of joining the defensive alliance, it requires the consensus of all its members. Spain is one of them. And the European Union in general controls this international organization together with the United States.

Chancellor Mondino is especially focused on both efforts. She was in Europe 10 days ago with official meetings in Brussels, headquarters of NATO and the European Union, as well as in Paris, where the OECD resides. At the San Martín Palace they know that the diplomatic tension with Spain implies a difficulty in these negotiations, although they assess that the crossing between Milei and Sánchez will not bog down the negotiations.
