Newcomer Mosquitoes in Buenos Aires during the summer?

mistery

New member
Hi everyone! We're almost ready to book our tickets to Buenos Aires for a trip from December to March, but then I remembered the issue with mosquitoes. Is it really that bad during this time? Should we reconsider our travel dates?

Yes, there are mosquitoes, but just wear repellent and you'll be fine. It's not as bad as in many other places in the world, and it's definitely not a reason to avoid traveling here. You just need to be prepared and keep some repellent in your purse or backpack.

I live surrounded by nature, and yes, there are mosquitoes. You just get used to them. Honestly, when I hear the panic coming from Buenos Aires (where I’ve also lived), I can’t help but laugh. People have become incredibly fragile. I understand the concern about dengue, but you just need to take precautions.

I hate hate hate mosquitos. Generally mosquitos wouldn't be bad unless there is a Dengue outbreak!

It’s true, things only got tough here when there was a dengue outbreak. Hopefully, it won’t happen again. This summer will be different from the last. According to experts, while there will be an increase in the mosquito population, not all of them will be dengue carriers like last summer. Just make sure to always have your repellent on hand. I don’t think mosquitoes are a reason not to come!

Forgive me but I don't trust the so called "experts". Let's see what happens. Probably hard to predict this stuff ahead of time.

The first case of locally transmitted dengue has been detected here, so we need to be cautious and stock up on repellent. Otherwise, people will panic and buy in large quantities, leading to shortages. It’s better to take the necessary precautions calmly now; we just need to be careful.

I’ve read that we need to be more careful than last summer because this time the mosquitoes are more resistant to repellent. I even read that they didn’t expect the first case to appear so early. So, we just need to be cautious and take care of ourselves, but not panic.
