Netflix has achieved a historic milestone by surpassing 300 million subscribers globally, driven by a record growth of 19 million new users in the last quarter of 2024. This success is attributed to a combination of factors, including the streaming of live sports events and the return of popular series like "Squid Game."Following these exceptional results, Netflix has announced price increases in several markets, including the United States, Canada, Portugal, and Argentina. In Argentina, the new prices that will take effect in February 2025 are:
  • Basic Plan: $5,999 (previously $4,299)
  • Standard Plan: $9,999 (previously $7,199)
  • Premium Plan: $13,499 (previously $9,699)
These increases represent an average 39% rise in plan prices. Netflix justifies this decision as part of its strategy to continue investing in programming and improve the user experience. It's important to note that these prices do not include taxes, which will be applied additionally. Furthermore, Netflix will introduce a new plan that allows subscribers of the ad-supported tier to add one person outside their household for an extra cost. This price adjustment is the second in less than six months for Netflix in Argentina, reflecting the changing dynamics of the streaming market and the company's ongoing investment in original content and service improvements.
