New Robbery Trend?

Last night, my friend had a terrifying experience. While their Uber was stopped at a sign, a guy suddenly appeared out of nowhere and smashed the car window with something heavy, trying to grab the driver’s phone. Luckily, the driver held onto it, and the guy took off. My friend was really shaken up, who’d think something like that could happen?

I’ve heard of people on motorcycles snatching bags or phones from pedestrians, but this is a new one for me. Is this type of crime becoming more common?

You're in Latin America, so things like this can happen. However, in terms of safety, Argentina is safer than many other places in the region. I don’t think this is common or becoming more frequent, it was just a bad experience. Don't let that color your view of the place. Bad things happen everywhere.

I’ve heard of a few isolated cases, usually around the Obelisco area, and they almost always take advantage when someone is crossing the street. That’s why it’s important to stay alert, but it’s not something that happens often. Recently, Argentina has been considered one of the safest countries in Latin America, as Olivia1 mentioned.

Many people think Argentina is a dangerous place to live, but that’s not true. Only isolated incidents happen, just like in any other part of the world.
