After the general strike called by the General Confederation of Labor (CGT) began for this Thursday, May 9, the Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich , asked Argentine citizens to join in fighting the measure of force imposed by the unionists. . “Today let's not stop,” she proposed through a statement that she received the immediate support of President Javier Milei .

Through a publication on her personal profile on the social network X, the public official highlighted the consequences that the strike would generate at a social level. “The student without the teacher loses his future. "The patient without the doctor can have serious consequences," he said, referring to the suspension of tasks by state workers, among whom were public school teachers and medical personnel who provide their services in hospitals and public health centers.

“The security forces do not stop because they know that your life is in danger,” confirmed the head of the security portfolio, pointing out that the police presence as well as the operation of the rest of the services were necessary to avoid putting citizens at risk. . For this reason, she called to reflect on the importance that each of these roles had to have a peaceful coexistence in society.

In this sense, Bullrich maintained: “If we all reason like this, each activity is essential. Therefore, today let's not stop." A few minutes after the Minister of Security shared the message, the president expressed his support for the statement by reposting it on his X profile. Unlike on other occasions, the head of state only limited himself to replicating the publication, since he did not added no extra comment.

Hours before, the minister urged citizens to file a complaint in court in the event that they were extorted or forced to join the national strike. In this way, he indicated that line 134 will be enabled to present the facts and even clarified that there will be the possibility of doing so anonymously, with the aim of protecting the identity of the complainants and preventing them from suffering attacks for having gone to the authorities.

The creation of the communication line was the work of the current government after they identified as a problem the cases of protesters who were forced to participate in street closures and demonstrations, either to avoid losing their jobs or the social programs they received. In January, the Ministry of Security celebrated the effectiveness of the measure, because they had collected a total of 57,300 complaints of instigation or coercion to block streets and routes, of which some 927 were linked to social organizations.

Prior to this, the public official participated in a meeting organized by the Rotary Club of Buenos Aires, where she renewed her confrontation with the union leaders. After being consulted by Infobae about what message she would give to the CGT leadership, she did not hesitate to answer: “Stop messing around with the strikes and get to work.” At the same time, she anticipated that the force measure would not have the expected effects, because the Government has no intention of going back with respect to the reforms promoted.

By way of analysis, Bullrich assured that the general strike was “an expression of doing the same thing as always, but they do not obtain the same results,” in reference to the results they obtained from the strike they carried out on January 24. In this way, he differentiated Milei's leadership from other presidents by considering that "before, when there were strikes there were setbacks, but today they can strike and we are going to tell people to report the extortions, to go to work."

“Let them go on strike and do what they want. “We are not going to stop doing what we have to do so that the country changes,” he stated, highlighting that what was at stake was the “cultural struggle.” Even in her speech, the public official highlighted measures such as the anti-picket protocol to avoid street and route closures that prevented workers from reaching their jobs and the merchants of the Buenos Aires Microcenter from being able to complete their workdays safely. normal.
