Porteros who hate short term AirBnb renters because they "They destroy the fabric of the building"

I'm experiencing this more and more terrible attitudes. If I say hola to someone and they ignore me I will ignore them forever which just makes the a situation build. My pride doesn't allow me anything else. I suspect that he has taken a package intended for me, what actions should I consider taking?
We had a few units in my building in Recoleta doing Airbnbs and I am so glad they are done now. With tourism down and also long term rentals in demand again both units in my building converted back to long term rentals and I am happy. 90% of the renters were very nice but we occasionally had people that were loud and had parties.

You can't do anything at all unless there is some video camera in the lobby so maybe if so you can do something but most buildings don't have video cameras unless they are new. You can't do anything if there is no video camera. He will just deny it.

Where did the package come from @LyellLanatone? If it was Mercado Libre you should have some protection and file a claim with them.

Unless you have proof via video as @Betsy Ross it is not worth making the situation worse. It will be your word against his. You will make the situation worse. Not sure how long your rental lease is but better not to get any packages or have them sent to a friend. We always suggest owners doing short-term rentals via Airbnb to have a very good relationship with the doormen or doorwoman. We have purchased and managed over 500 properties in BA and have avoided problems making good relationships with them.

You have to also keep in mind owners should set proper expectations with rental guests. Let them know NO loud parties or music and let them know they will be kicked out if they do. We always set this expectation and avoid issues. Many people staying at Airbnb's are very rude so if you don't set the expectation you have a tense situation where people in the building hate rentals and might take it out on you.

Without video proof or the Mercado Libre asking for DNI of the person they delivered it to you can't do anything. On expensive items they will ask for ID but on smaller packages they might just give it to the doorman but usually they have some message who they gave it to. Just make sure before you accuse them you have solid proof. But even with proof there may be nothing you can do.

Betsy is correct. Don't make a bad situation worse. Unless you have solid proof with a video don't even bother accusing him/her. And even if there is a video camera from the administration, it's doubtful they will provide you with it if it shows the doorman took it. They have an obligation to the doorman not to you.

Probably if it was an Airbnb rental take it up with the owner of the Airbnb. But with that you will also have to have solid proof. But your chances are better if you deal with the Airbnb owner vs. the doorman. Let them deal with it and figure out what happened.

Here you never know what could have happened. I have had several letters or packages that say they made a delivery attempt and I know they never did. Where did the package come from and what makes you think he took it? Follow the advice above.

Ask the place that sent it who they left it with. The times I have gotten packages they will not leave it with anyone without showing some DNI #. Unless maybe it was not valuable at all but they usually make a record of who they left with. In the US when I was at my sister's house they even took a picture of where they left it. We had a package that did not arrive and they showed a photo and it was not her house.

ML has passwords for delivery on items that are valuable. Do not accuse the portero unless you have proof.

It was just a plain letter from my mother back home with a credit card in it. Obviously I had the limit set at $0 incase someone stole it so I didn't lose any money but it's still frustrating because I really need that card 😑
I wouldn't blame the doorman for that. Mail here is notoriously bad! Never send anything here via normal mail. If anything a trackable source. Did you send it DHL or some way to track it? Usually they will put who they left it with. I never trust normal mail. Lived here a long time and mail is terrible!

I heard this also that mail service was very bad. I think probably in much of Latin America it is bad. I don't know if Argentina is better or worse.

This no proof! You are just guessing. You do not know how bad the mail system is here. Terrible!
