The head of the bloc of Deputies of Hacemos Coalión Federal tweeted a video showing slogans in Cyrillic requesting a translator for those who do not master the Spanish language. “How do you explain this?” wrote the legislator.
The video that Miguel Ángel Pichetto shared of posters in Russian in public hospitals
“Dear patient, if you do not speak Spanish, please come with a translator. Thank you". The viral video at the Dr. Juan A. Fernández General Acute Hospital where you can see a sign written in Cyrillic language is a reflection of the large number of Russian citizens who are treated every day in the City's public health centers .
That message was the trigger for the head of the bloc of Deputies of the Hacemos Federal Coalition, Miguel Ángel Pichetto , to warn about health care for foreigners . And it ignited the controversy over the selective offering of medical services.
“In a public hospital in the city there are already signs in Russian for patients who come for treatment. How is this explained? “Argentina continues to be a generous country ,” tweeted the former Auditor General of the Nation.
Deputy Pichetto's tweet as an impact of the posters that appear in some hospitals
It is worth remembering that deputy Nahuel Sotelo (president of the La Libertad Avanza bloc in the Lower House) presented the #SaludParaLosArgentinos initiative in mid-2022 . “We are not in a position to give anything away, especially if there is no reciprocity,” he had expressed at the time. He also indicated that foreigners who did not reside in Argentina should begin to contribute financially for the health services they receive. This initiative was presented to the Health Commission but has not yet been discussed .
