On its first day of launch, registration to request “ Educational Vouchers ” for the payment of fees for privately managed schools started with significant access difficulties. The program applies to institutions whose monthly fee does not exceed $54,396 . Beneficiaries will receive a sum of financial assistance equivalent to 50% of the value of the single-day rate, not including extra-programmatic activities, based on the base fee (March 2024) for May, June and July. The voucher will have a limit of $27,198 per child .
According to the Ministry of Education, in charge of implementing the program, the universe could reach almost 2 million children who attend more than 6 thousand schools throughout the country and whose parents have a family income of less than 7 times the salary. The implementation of vouchers in the educational system had been one of Milei's campaign promises. The proposal involved moving from financing the supply, through the support of schools and colleges, to financing the demand, that is, of each student. University scholarships were made official
On the other hand, in recent weeks, the Government also launched the renewal process for the Manuel Belgrano university scholarship program, which began on March 18 and extends until April 3. The call for new applicants will take place from March 25 to April 15.This Wednesday, the resolution signed by the Secretary of Education, Carlos Torrendell , was published in the Official Gazette, which approves the launch of the 2024 Call for the program.
The recipients of the scholarships are students of undergraduate and graduate university courses in the strategic areas of Food, Environment, Computing and Informatics, Conventional and Alternative Energy, Gas and Oil, Logistics and Transportation, Mining, Basic Sciences, and Philosophy and Education.
The program has a maximum quota of 36,000 scholarships , which last 12 months and amount to $81,685, and are renewed according to the conditions established in the general regulations.
