Social organizations and picketers will accompany the CGT in Wednesday's march in front of Congress

On Wednesday, together with the CGT, the Peronist social movements will carry out their first measure of force against the government of Javier Milei . In this way, they began to define the relationship that from now on they will maintain with the administration of La Libertad Avanza. It is the first general protest march that all the organizations that make up the Popular Economy Workers Union (UTEP) have carried out in four years. During the mandate of Alberto Fernández, the protests that were organized had been partial and some of them, even agreed upon with some sectors of the government of the Front for Victory, now Unión por la Patria, a political space that they themselves integrate.

The Evita Movement, Somos Barrios de Pie, MTE, Corriente Clasista y Combativa (CCC), Darío Santillán Popular Front and the Francisco Missionaries Movement estimate to mobilize around fifty thousand militants . The decision to accompany the CGT in the 12-hour general strike called for the 24th to demand “repeal of the DNU and the Omnibus Law” that is being debated in Parliament was decided through a series of days of assemblies and popular pots held in all districts of the country.

No special logistics are planned for territorial deployment to the vicinity of the National Congress. There will be no buses, nor will the banners arrive in vans or trucks. So far the decision is to travel by public transport. The intention is to avoid a possible confrontation with security forces, both federal and City. Until now, it is unknown what attitude President Javier Milei will take if a crowd of tens of thousands of people block avenues and streets. Will the Ministry of Security apply the Anti-Picket Protocol?

Nobody doubts that the union organizations that make up the CGT and the social movements will call tens of thousands of protesters to protest against the Emergency Need Decree and the Omnibus Law that propose, among other measures, a labor reform.

The deployment of popular organizations using public transportation is possible since the CGT did not order a total paralysis of activities but rather a partial strike to facilitate mobilization. The strike of buses, trains and subways (decisive for the success of a general protest) will only be effective for 5 hours, between 7 p.m. on Wednesday and 12 a.m. on Thursday.

It is not the first time that the UTEP marches alongside the CGT against the libertarian government. Partially, they had already mobilized to court to accompany the presentation of the protection that the lawyers of the main labor union in the country presented against some articles of the DNU.

Alejandro Gramajo, general secretary of the UTEP and Gildo Onorato, leader of the Evita Movement. Both will mobilize on Wednesday at the doors of the national parliament

Alejandro “Peluca” Gramajo , general secretary of the UTEP, is the one who leads the protest of popular spaces that see the achievements achieved during the administration of Alberto Fernández threatened. For that reason he denounced that “the government has been cutting all food aid in cafeterias and picnic areas.” In this regard, he stated: “In no line of this law and this DNU have they proposed, for example, how to address the food emergency that exists in our country. “This government has made the decision not to deliver food to community kitchens.” He also expressed “UTEP's concern about the cuts in the socio-urban integration works that members of cooperatives had been carrying out. The works reach more than 5,500 popular neighborhoods and more than 2 million people. “It draws our attention that this law attempts to defund a public policy for the urbanization of popular neighborhoods, which allows works to be carried out in more than 5,500 popular neighborhoods that allow people to be given dignity,” he pointed out.

The UTEP and its member organizations have already scheduled meetings to evaluate the result of the general strike, the march in particular, and the measures they will take from now on to prevent “the government of La Libertad Avanza from taking away our labor and social rights.” that we achieved and that neoliberalism had no longer taken away and that we have not yet recovered in its entirety,” they highlighted in a statement.

The picketers also march

Last Saturday, with the presence of 600 delegates from combative unionism and the piquetero movement , a plenary session was held at the facilities of the tire union (Sutna) in El Jagüel (Esteban Echeverría party) that voted on the formation of an independent column to participate in the mobilization of the 24th, within the framework of the general strike called by the CGT against the DNU and the Omnibus Law. At the same time, he raised the need for a “ fighting plan until Milei's plan is defeated .” The tone of the claims they use is much more critical than that of the Cegetista leaders and they have already voted for new forceful measures.

At the opening of the plenary session, Alejandro Crespo , general secretary of Sutna, pointed out that "Milei seeks not only a brutal adjustment but also to break the morale of the working class , blaming workers and retirees for the crisis." He also warned that it will not be justice and Congress who will oppose a response to the government, which is why the presence of workers in the streets is decisive. He highlighted the unity of the employed and unemployed in the struggle and raised the importance of an independent column on Wednesday in front of the legislative palace.

In turn, Eduardo “Chiquito” Belliboni, leader of the Polo Obrero, denounced the widespread shortage of soup kitchens by the government, which poses, in his words, “a dramatic situation for all those who depend on food assistance to be able to live.” ”. On Wednesday the 31st, he announced, “ there will be measures to combat this problem . ”

Belliboni maintained that the task of the plenary session was to discuss the continuity of the strike on the 24th, which is not the policy of the CGT , whose strategy focuses on the parliamentary and judicial thread . And he added: “the parties of capital want the governability of Milei,” in reference to the opposition's negotiations with the government to validate a large part of the package of measures.

The leader of the Polo Obrero warned Infobae : “We are going to put together an independent column made up of unions, internal commissions, popular assemblies and more than 30 picketing organizations, which will make demands such as setting a salary amount, starting with the minimum wage. vital and mobile to 500,000, the restitution of food to soup kitchens that have not received a kilo of rice for 3 months. He also recalled “the continuity of the 36 and 48 hour struggle plan until the general strike that defeats Milei's plan, without any confidence in Parliament's negotiations.”

The left-wing picketing organizations estimate to mobilize around forty thousand people. They will also do it on public transportation. The intention is not to confront the police or the federal forces, although they highlighted that, due to the magnitude of the column, "it will be impossible to move along the sidewalk as Patricia Bullrich intends."

Wednesday will be a challenge not only for the unions, picketers and social organizations, but also for the Government and the "Protocol for the maintenance of public order in the event of the closure of traffic routes."
