Spoiled by Mendoza—Now What?

Back in Buenos Aires for a couple of weeks after a quick getaway to Mendoza. Now I’m totally spoiled for choice when it comes to wine, so I’m looking for a good wine shop in the city, preferably one that stocks smaller or lesser-known producers and some off-the-beaten-path grape varieties. Think Valle de Uco, Salta, Jujuy, Cabernet Franc, Tannat, Bonarda, interesting blends, etc. I’m staying in Recoleta, near El Ateneo, but most of the places around here are pretty Malbec-heavy. Any recommendations?

You are spoiled in Mendoza but there are many wine stores all over BA. Any mall will have a good wine store too. Even if you go to a big supermarket you can find many wines from all over Argentina.

I saw wine stores everywhere! Avocado nailed it. I went to a BBQ and had to get some wine. I went to the Jumbo in Palermo and they have a HUGE wine section. You should be able to find whatever kind of wine you want. Prices were super cheap too.

I keep hearing great things about Mendoza. I want to check it out on my next trip. I like bigger cities to live because I would get bored in small towns but I want to check it out.

Mendoza is beautiful and worth going to. Probably a great place to live. Different than BA. Just depends what you like. If you like a quieter slower pace of life you would love it. Just as some people would hate to live in NYC many would hate to live in BA.
