Newcomer Starlink in Argentina

Has anyone tried to order starlink? I have seen that it is already available in Argentina, although the prices are not affordable I have read that it reaches unsuspected areas. I also imagine that the quality of service is much better than any other currently available in the market.

You would not order this living in Buenos Aires. Buenos Aires has a lot of fast internet options that are cheaper. I think this is mostly being ordered for rural areas where there is no signal or connection. I don't know if this makes sense to use in BA. Although it is super cool.

Starlink in Argentina just dropped their price from 500,000 pesos to 250,000 pesos. It's 50% off right now if anyone is on the fence.

Thanks @Vince my friends that live in Patagonia were thinking about getting it as there is no internet where they live. I heard the speeds are very fast. I will have them jump on this price discount.

Some friends down South have gotten it and they really love it. The monthly fee is not much more than high speed Internet with any provider All the carriers seem to be raising prices anyway. 56,100 pesos per month for the service after you buy it.

Bumping this post. Has anyone actually signed up for this? I still don't know anyone that has actually signed up. I recall one of the members that lived outside of the city in the Northern part of the city with no high-speed internet. Maybe it was @Oatmeal? Did you ever sign up for this?
I don't know anyone in Buenos Aires but there are some people I know down in Bariloche that have it and they are very happy with it.

It should work in the northern suburbs. My friend has it down South. You need an open space to place the dish. And make sure that no one steals it as these are worth several hundreds of dollars. You are probably ok in a gated community but in the city probably wouldn't work. You have to install it on a rooftop and I wouldn't trust someone wouldn't steal it if people have access to the roof.

I don't have any experience however in CABA but several friends are using it and love it.

Hello. Yes. I have this service since July. Works great! It used to be consistently from Dish to modem with around 180-200MB. However I noticed about a little more than a month ago there was a software update. Dish to modem is now 280-300MB. So better download speeds. Upload is about 10% of DL. I also bought a mesh wifi system LINK which has improved my signal to the whole house and backyard. FYI oem modem from Starlink sucks in terms of signal strength, also you will need to buy a Starlink ethernet adapter.

Great update. Where you able to buy all of these things including the ethernet adapter here in Argentina? Just purchase it on Mercado Libre? Or does Starlink provide those things? What is your monthly cost for the service? Thanks.

Thank you for coming back and updating. Glad it's working so well. I will let my friend know it is working great for you.

I bought my modem from Fravega. The ethernet adapter on mercardo libre, however I see many for sale on FB market place (at least when i was looking). You will need an adapter if you want to setup/use a wifi system because there are no network port in the standard setup. Last billed at $56.100 using my foreign CC.

Is it fairly stable? Does it ever go down or not work? This sounds like a great set up. Were you able to set it up yourself @Oatmeal or did you have to hire someone to set it up for you? My girlfriend's parents are thinking of adding this to their country house. They have service out there but it is always going down. Going to give them your set up.
