Amid complaints about the lack of cash to carry out transactions, it was learned that the first $20,000 bills would not arrive from China until late October. They would enter circulation at the end of November.

The new $20,000 bills will arrive in the country in October.
After a semester of high accumulated inflation, complaints about the lack of cash to carry out transactions are increasing. To alleviate this situation, $10,000 bills began to circulate , but it is not enough. The Central Bank (BCRA) is not expecting the arrival of $20,000 bills, printed abroad, until the end of October.

According to reports on Friday, 230 million $20,000 bills imported from China will arrive. They will not be in circulation immediately, and will have to wait a few weeks between arrival and distribution in ATMs throughout the country. More $10,000 bills are also expected by the end of August.

This delay could have been shortened if it had been printed at the local Mint, but, according to the BCRA, it would not be in operating condition. "When we arrived (at the BCRA), we wanted to facilitate people's transactions. But the Mint was in overdrive. They left it destroyed," they justified to Noticias Argentinas from the entity headed by Santiago Bausili.

There are currently 10.887 billion bills in circulation in Argentina. Of these, 56% are $1,000 bills, with images of the ovenbird and José de San Martín. There are 734 million $2,000 bills, which are equivalent to less than 7% of the total in circulation.
