The Buenos Aires Government reinforced the security of the AMIA and other buildings of the Jewish community.

Within the framework of the contingency plan against terrorism announced this Saturday by the head of Government of the city of Buenos Aires, Jorge Macri, after Iran's attack on Israel with the launch of drones and ballistic missiles from its territory, today the authorities Buenos Aires ordered the reinforcement of the security of buildings of the Jewish community.

Through a statement issued yesterday by the Buenos Aires Government, the Division of Sensitive Targets of Terrorism that depends on the Ministry of Security of CABA - a recently regulated jurisdictional area, which aims to maximize security measures on specific targets - ordered the permanent instruction of all members of the force in specific regulations and interact with federal forces on this matter.

Consequently, this Sunday the AMIA building , located at 633 Pasteur Street, in the Once neighborhood, woke up with the custody of a van belonging to the City Police stationed at the entrance to the building. As Infobae was able to find out , the cell phone arrived at the location around 2 in the morning, and is expected to remain there throughout Sunday and until it receives the order to leave.

The measure was announced just one day after the national government also decided to reinforce security at embassies and airports following the ruling on the attack on the AMIA by the Federal Court of Criminal Cassation , which ruled that the attack against the Israeli embassy that It occurred in March 1992 and the bomb that exploded the headquarters of the Jewish mutual society on July 18, 1994 “responded to a political and strategic design” of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and both attacks were carried out by the terrorist organization Hezbollah .

Hours after Iran's attack on Israel, Buenos Aires Mayor Jorge Macri put into operation the contingency plan of the Sensitive Terrorism Targets Division (DOS) of the City Police, and expressed his repudiation of the latest events that occurred.

Jorge Macri's position in the midst of Iran's attack on Israel
“I emphatically condemn the brutal attack perpetrated by Iran against the State of Israel, which threatens peace, democracy and freedom. All my solidarity and support for the Israeli people. “War, terrorism and violence are never the way ,” reads the message that the PRO leader published on his social networks.

The DOS was created by order of the Minister of Security of CABA, Waldo Wolff , and is under the orbit of the Chief of Police, Diego Kravetz . The head of the Division is Alejandro Itzcovich , former director of the Airport Security Police (PSA) during the government of Mauricio Macri.

Since its creation, the priorities of the DOS are: identifying sensitive targets for terrorist attacks; draw up preventive plans to provide security; reinforce the permanent training of all members of the force in specific standards; interact with the Federal Forces on the matter and maximize security measures on specific objectives.

The AMIA expressed itself along the same lines, from where they expressed their “strong condemnation” against the Iranian offensive on Israel and criticized the actions of the national government in the face of the brutal attack. “Iran has proven to be a real and concrete threat, not only to Israel, but globally. Unfortunately, Argentina does not require explanations to understand the level of danger it represents , having been a victim, on two occasions, of terrorist attacks planned, organized, financed and executed by the Iranian regime," reads the statement released by the Jewish mutual society.

“On numerous occasions, Iran's highest authorities have publicly declared their intention to eliminate Israel, the only democracy in the Middle East. It is a moral imperative to increase international efforts to stop this aggression. Human rights, freedom and respect are being attacked. Today, more than ever, being with Israel means defending the future and the supreme value of life,” concludes the message, which was accompanied by a map showing the areas of Israel that were bombed by Iran.

Eyal Sela , Israel's ambassador to Argentina, today supported the reinforcement of the security of Jewish buildings in CABA during an interview with Miter radio and said that "we must always be prepared" against the possibility of a surprise attack.

Yesterday, after President Javier Milei expressed his full support for Israel, the diplomat celebrated the support that the national government sent to his country . “We are very grateful, we are accepting the messages that come from the President, his Government, also from other political spaces. Governors, mayors, senators and I take this opportunity to publicly thank everyone,” he said during an interview with TN .

When carrying out a global analysis of what happened on Saturday, Sela stated that "today in the world there is a coalition, there are two options: either you are with Iran, with terrorism and everything it represents or you are against it." “We saw that many were against it, some put their planes, their missions, their military capabilities to stop it and others did it in other ways. And the most important thing is that in the world, here in Argentina, the Government, the president and others are clearly against this type of attacks,” he added.

During the early hours of this Sunday -Israel time-, the Islamic Republic launched dozens of attack drones and ballistic missiles from its territory in at least three waves towards Israeli territory. Faced with this situation, the Israeli authorities activated their anti-aircraft defenses and their aviation to try to intercept the Persian attacks.

Israel celebrated this Sunday the effectiveness of its anti-aircraft defenses in the face of an unprecedented Iranian attack and assured that it managed to intercept, with the help of its allies, 99% of the more than 300 drones and missiles launched towards its territory. But regional tensions continue, amid fears of further escalation in the event of a possible Israeli counterattack.

This is what the Iranian missile attack on Jerusalem looked like
Iran launched more than 300 threats and 99% of them were intercepted ,” said Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, spokesman for the Israeli army. “That's a success.” When asked if Israel would respond, Hagari indicated that the country would do whatever was necessary to protect its citizens.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu posted a short message on X in which he said, “We intercepted. We block. Together, we will win.”

The Iranian offensive was responding to an attack widely attributed to Israel on an Iranian consular building in Syria this month, which killed two Revolutionary Guard generals.

The two rivals have been waging a covert war for years, characterized by incidents such as the Damascus attack . But the escalation of tensions this Sunday, which caused air raid sirens to sound throughout Israel, constituted Iran's first direct military aggression against Israel, despite decades of enmity that began with the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
