The Government will once again give a bonus to retirees, as confirmed by the presidential spokesperson, Manuel Adorni , in his usual press conference.

The spokesperson specified that the National Government will grant a new bonus to retirees and pensioners for the month of June of 70 thousand pesos , with the objective that "they never again lose against the inflationary level and their purchasing power is not resented."

In April, with the 70,000 peso bonus, no retiree earned less than $260,124.17 in May. In the event that the amount is greater than the minimum, a proportional amount was granted until that amount is reached.

With the new mobility formula (Decree 274/24) that adjusts for the Consumer Price Index (CPI) , and which comes into effect in July, it was applied by Anses in retirements and pensions for the months of April, May and June, as an advance on account of the result of the formula in force for the month of June (Law 27,609), and showed an increase of 53.91 percent in the quarter.

“For the month of June, the current formula (Law 27,609) determined an increase of 41.48 percent, which is less than the sum of the advances granted in the quarter from April to June by the new formula, which was higher by 12.43 percentage points, generating an increase, in relative terms, of 29.97 percent compared to the previous one,” the Government explained.

Given this context, no additional increase is expected beyond the April inflation adjustment. To make the comparison stipulated by the DNU (between the result of the formula that will be replaced and the three-month increase), the monthly adjustments for inflation and the 12.5% granted in April will be considered as an “extraordinary increase.” If the latter were not included in the calculation based on the CPI, then it would be appropriate to apply an additional, since the total readjustment would be 36.72%.

Thus, 53.91 percent is the result of the percentages applied in the month of April: (27.40 percent, made up of 12.5% one time, plus 13.24 percent corresponding to the CPI of February); May (11.01 percent corresponding to the March CPI); and the increase that will be applied in June (8.83 percent corresponding to the April CPI).

In June, retirees , pensioners and beneficiaries of the Universal Pension for the Elderly (PUAM) in Argentina will experience an 8.8% increase in their assets. This adjustment reflects the inflation rate for April , according to data published by Indec this week.

The monthly increase in salaries, adjusted according to the inflation index, was established by the Decree of Necessity and Urgency (DNU) 274. This government provision altered how benefits are updated. Specifically, the decree stipulates that the formula established by Law 27,609, in force since 2021, will cease to apply in July. In addition, it determines that the current quarter, which covers April to June, is a transition phase that connects the previous method of adjustments with the new increases based on the variation in the consumer price index.

Anses reported the payment schedule

How much will retirees earn in June

Using the May figures as a base, where the minimum credit was 190,141.60 pesos, we calculated the new amounts for June:

  • PUAM (Universal Pension for the Elderly) : In May, the base of the PUAM was 152,113.28 pesos. With the increase of 8.8%, the PUAM for June will be approximately 165,507.24 pesos.
  • Minimum credit : In May, the minimum credit was 190,141.60 pesos. With the increase of 8.8%, the minimum credit in June will be approximately 206,994.05 pesos.
  • Maximum credit : Based on the fact that the maximum credit in May was $1,279,472.92, in June it will be around 1,392.066 pesos, this value already reflects the 8.8% adjustment mentioned.
  • Non-Contributory Pensions for Disability and Old Age for June : Applying the 8.8% increase to this amount to $133,099.12 in June it would reach 144,843.88 pesos.
To this sum we must add the bonus, which, in principle, would again be $70,000.
