The Government presented itself this Tuesday as a plaintiff against the defendants already identified in the case that investigates alleged extortion and coercion of beneficiaries of social plans . He did so through legal action carried out by the Minister of National Security, Patricia Bullrich .
The investigation was initiated as a result of complaints received through Line 134, some anonymous and others by people who identified themselves. All of them stated that they had been threatened with losing the benefits of Empower Work or other allowances if they did not join the marches of different social organizations.
“Now, the Ministry of National Security is a plaintiff to follow these and the thousands of cases of leaders enriched with the taxes of working people . "Whoever makes them, pays for them," Bullrich said on his social networks.
In his presentation, Bullrich highlighted that “thousands of calls” were received from the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires and the provinces of Buenos Aires, Mendoza, Catamarca, Misiones, Jujuy and Chaco, among others.
“The modalities denounced consist of offering subsidies in exchange for attending marches and mobilizations; forcing people to attend mobilizations, such as the one on December 22, 2023, under the express warning of 'deregistering the Potenciar Plan'; to charge them a fixed or monthly sum of money as 'punishment' for not attending a mobilization; requiring the payment of contributions on a monthly basis to maintain a subsidy; etc”, indicates the text.
For Bullrich, “it is necessary to assume the role of plaintiff in order to contribute to the investigation of the illegal acts investigated here, which cause serious harm to the Nation as a whole .”

Specifically, it refers to “the crimes of aggravated threats, extortion and defrauding the State (arts. 149 bis, second paragraph, 168, and 174, inc. 5 of the National Penal Code), and those that arise with the measures to be developed in the proceedings, such as the crime of illicit association provided for in art. 210 of the National Penal Code.”

For their part, the leaders and activists of social organizations who were raided yesterday in the case for alleged extortion of beneficiaries of social plans appeared in court to appoint lawyers and begin to be part of the judicial case being processed by federal judge Sebastián Casanello and prosecutor Gerardo Pollicita .
One of the chats presented as evidence
Judicial sources informed Infobae that 13 defendants appeared in the file, among them Jeremías Cantero , from the Polo Obrero, and Elizabeth del Carmen Palma , president of the Polo Obrero Association. These are the two defendants that prosecutor Pollicita accuses of having a leading role in the organization and who had their phones tapped.
The 13 defendants who appeared are part of the Partido Obrero and designated Liliana Alaniz, Claudia Ferrero and Eduardo Penello as lawyers . When they are accepted, they will be able to access the file and begin the defense of the accused.
According to the actions to which Infobae had access , in the raid on María Isolda Dotti, in a ground floor apartment on Avenida Chiclana 3000, in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Parque Patricios, they found 54,448 dollars in cash, 478 thousand pesos, a cell phone and a purchase and sale ticket for a property, the content of which was not revealed . The total amount far exceeds 55 million pesos, according to the free exchange rate of the US currency.
The other significant raid was the one that took place on 700 Monteagudo Street, on the border between the Buenos Aires neighborhoods of Parque Patricios and Pompeya. In the Polo Obrero property, where Jorge Antonio Rosa and Saucedo Arias were, $16,425 in cash, 6,882,589 pesos, four notebooks, three CPUs, a DVR, a hard drive and four pendrives were found. In this case, the total amount of seized money exceeds 22 million pesos.
Justice will now have to determine if that money could have originated from the illegal practices that are being investigated. The main hypothesis analyzed by Pollicita and the researchers who report to the Ministry of Security, headed by Patricia Bullrich, is that the piquetero organizations set up a machinery that was fed back with resources from social plans and food that they received from the various governments. An endless circuit of pickets, plans, money, more pickets, more plans, more money, more pickets.
The dynamic, according to the actions to which Infobae had access , was based on “coercively demanding that the beneficiaries of social plans participate in marches and public demonstrations and/or deliver a portion of the money , under the express warning in some cases of ' cancelling the plan '”. In the complaint made by the Ministry, a total of 924 cases were presented.”
The raids were ordered because "sufficient elements of conviction were gathered to summon 28 people and carry out 27 raids - belonging to private homes and soup kitchens, such as Rivadavia I, La Carbonilla, Mariano Ferreyra, Kuña Guapa and Caminos de Tiza , warehouses, offices, premises of social organizations and linked cooperatives.” “ All of this in order to proceed with the arrest of the accused to guarantee their appearance, seize the proceeds of the crime and collect evidentiary elements such as attendance sheets for mobilizations or cellular devices ,” was indicated in the ruling of Chamber I of the Chamber that unlocked the operations.
