Spokesman Manuel Adorni responded to the organization's representative in the region who had asked to review the cuts to prevent them from falling on the working class. “It is inaccurate,” said the Argentine official.

The presidential spokesperson said that it is not true that they do not take care of the poorest
The Government came out to respond to the International Monetary Fund ( IMF ), after the claim made by an official of the organization, who proposed that the fiscal adjustment not fall on the working class.

In his usual press conference, presidential spokesperson Manuel Adorni assured that within the framework of the fiscal austerity and state restructuring measures taken in the last three months "the most cared for sectors are the poorest."

“The most cared for and most protected sectors are indeed the poorest, the most vulnerable. Where the most increase and help has been given is in the most vulnerable sectors, especially those involving the youngest. The AUH (Universal Child Allowance), the food cards, the soup kitchens, beyond all the misinformation that existed. On the contrary, they are the sectors most served because we understand that they are the future of Argentina, and not only is the future in being able to feed themselves and have a decent life, but also in being able to educate themselves," Adorni argued this morning when faced with a question about Valdés' statements.

“The fact that we forget about the poorest, if that was the definition, was absolutely inaccurate. The data is visible, in a scheme with the IMF that we are strictly complying with, because all the goals and the path that we have outlined together, in the next review it will be clear that after a long time we are not going to pass shame,” said the presidential spokesperson.

This Tuesday, during the IEFA Latam Forum, Rodrigo Valdés , IMF representative in the region, asked the Argentine authorities to “review the quality of the adjustment rather than the quantity” and demanded that exchange controls be balanced “very carefully.” In the same sense, he stressed that the multilateral credit organization considers it important to “sustain efforts” to support the “most vulnerable sectors of the population” so that the heaviest burden of adjustment does not fall “ disproportionately on working families.” ”.

However, Valdés appreciated that within the framework of the State reform to which Javier Milei committed, “the progress so far has been impressive. There is a fiscal surplus in general, this was recorded in January and February for the first time in more than a decade. International reserves are being rebuilt, inflation is falling faster than we anticipated, and indicators such as the parallel market and the exchange rate gap continue to improve.”

“The fact that we forget about the poorest, if that was the definition, was absolutely inaccurate,” said the presidential spokesperson.

“But the inheritance was heavy and the path to stabilization is never easy, it requires a strong implementation of policies in general,” he remarked before issuing his warning. “In this sense, it is very important to continue improving the quality of fiscal adjustment. Quality, I want to emphasize, not quantity ,” Valdés demanded.

Given the IMF's warning, spokesperson Adorni maintained that this criticism is "inaccurate", since "the most cared for and protected sectors are the poorest, the most vulnerable." He also assured that "in these 100 days of government, where the most increases and aid have been given were in the most vulnerable sectors, especially those that bring together the youngest."

“These months we had adjustments in the AUH, to food cards, school aid, the dining rooms themselves, beyond all the defamation that there was about our supposed carelessness towards the most vulnerable sectors,” said the presidential official.

“For that, the most vulnerable must be educated because otherwise they will never be able to educate themselves and when in 30 years they have to support the great Argentina, which will surely already be great, they will not be able to do it because they will not to have the corresponding development,” the spokesperson continued.
