The demonstration demanding salary increases was supported by teachers, public employees, duty workers and even park guards. The Gendarmerie that was sent by the Government did not evacuate and for now is diverting traffic

By Juan A. Bracco

The police protest has already received the support of teachers, other public employees and rural residents
(Candelaria, Misiones, special envoy) - Since this morning, teachers from different social organizations and self-organized groups from several towns in Misiones have been cutting off traffic in the vicinity of the bridge over the Guarupá stream, which connects the town of the same name with Candelaria along national route 12. It is a derivation of the demonstration that the provincial police began in the center of Posadas.

Estela Genesini , a teacher union leader, informed Infobae that the protest is in demand of better salaries and working conditions, a demand that is repeated in each of the demonstrations that begin to multiply, while the national government, which sent the Gendarmerie to assist The administration headed by Hugo Passalacqua has not yet intervened and is only diverting traffic.

The demonstration began with police and now it is teachers and other sectors that have a relationship with the provincial government

More than a hundred gazebos and umbrellas were installed on both sides of the headland above Candelaria and block the passage of cars and trucks, many of them in international transit to and from Brazil. In the assembly it was reported that the salary discussion will not be reopened with the local government. Yesterday an understanding was reached between some unions and the Passalacqua administration that raised the basic salary to $400,000.

The teachers were among the first sectors to join the complaints on the street presented by the Misiones Police officers. They are two of the sectors most punished by increases below inflation that they have been receiving in each joint negotiation.

New call to police

While the protest on the bridge worsens, in the center of Posadas, the epicenter where the rebellion began continues to generate news. Ramón Amarilla, spokesperson for the police, announced that the Government called for a new instance of conversation. But he clarified that the position they will take is irreducible: a 100% increase that brings the agent's base to $. 830 thousand.

Another of the representatives, Germán Palavecino, told Infobae that the Government notified them that they would be summoned again today, but without specifying the time or place. On Monday the talks ended abruptly. “They offered us 20%. A lack of respect. We want 100% yes or yes,” Amarilla cried from the steps of the Radioelectric Command, the focus of the conflict.

“We are going to return with the hope of bringing the result we want,” he added and asserted that the purpose is to achieve a salary recomposition and not cause the fall of the government. However, in another section he expressed: “We have to stay united and fight these people to the last consequences.”

“The Government has not even appreciated the very serious problem it has. All sectors are in the same situation. They want to settle with the police first and then use us to fight with a teacher or health personnel. We do not have to allow them to use us and fight poor against poor,” added Amarilla, a retired police officer. Then, he specified: “Here we are going to kick things off so that the police officer is well paid.”

The closing of the exhibition was with the arrival of the Police band, which entered the camp playing national songs from one of the sides. Then, the National Anthem was played. The police and other protesters then returned to preparing lunch on the various stoves.
