El Rosedal: schedules, how to get there​


The Rose Garden of Palermo has the most important collection of roses in the country. A walk to enjoy the color, the aromas and the outdoors.

El Rosedal is a walk that is located within the Tres de Febrero Park in the Palermo neighborhood .

Without a doubt, the Palermo Rose Garden is a classic among the places to visit in the city of Buenos Aires. This park preserves thousands of rose bushes of nearly 100 species of these plants. Also notable are the lake with its bridge , the pergola , the collection of busts of poets , the Andalusian patio and the amphitheater .

The rose garden is a free public space that welcomes every week, especially on Saturdays and Sundays, thousands of people looking to play sports, go out with friends, go for a family walk or have a picnic. The Rose Garden was declared Cultural Heritage of the City.

How to get to the Rose Garden​

Address: Av. Libertador and Av. Sarmiento (The internal streets are Pedro Montt, Iraola and Infanta Isabel). Palermo neighborhood.

Arriving by bus : 12, 15, 29, 36, 37, 39, 41, 55, 57, 59, 60, 64, 67, 68, 93, 95, 102, 108, 111, 118, 124, 128, 130, 152, 160, 161, 166, 188.

Get there by subway : Line D, get off at Plaza Italia station and walk 10 blocks along Av. Sarmiento or get off at Palermo station and walk 10 blocks along Av. Bullrich. (During January and February, 2024 this line is suspended for renovations)

Arriving by train : FFCC. San Martín, get off at Palermo station and walk 10 blocks along Av. Bullrich. FFCC.Mitre, get off at Tres de Febrero station and walk 300 meters.

To keep in mind : remember that the internal streets are closed to vehicle traffic on weekends.

Rose Garden Hours​

Hours : Tuesday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Entry until 5:30 p.m.). Closed Monday.

Closed days : January 1, Good Friday, May 1, July 20, September 21, November 8, December 24, 25, and 31.

Information and places to visit in the Rose Garden​

The rose sector is the heart of the walk, there one can walk along different paths through the beds where thousands of roses are grown. The flowering season is very broad since it depends on the species. Most roses bloom during spring but you can also see the colorful flowers in autumn and winter. That is why all year round is a good time to visit the rose garden.

Some species of roses according to color :

Rosa La Sevillana: intense red color.
Rosa Alba: white or pale pink color.
Pink Johann Strauss: pink or pale pink color.
Rosa Graham Thomas: yellow color.
Rosa Elina: soft yellow color.
Rose Gold Metal: yellow color.
Iceberg Pink: white color.

Greek Bridge​

Also known as Lovers' Bridge , it allows the crossing of a sector of the lake and forms one of the main accesses to the Rose Garden. From there you can see very nice views of the entire walk. The white Greek Bridge has attractive architectural forms.

The Pergola​

Following the path from the Greek Bridge is the Pergola, this walk is located between the rose garden and the lake. A place to enjoy a break under the shade of wisteria.

Walk of the Poets​

In an entrance area to the Rose Garden is the Poets Walk, where between the paths and an attractive water fountain are located different busts of renowned Argentine and foreign poets such as: Alfonsina Storni, Jorge Luis Borges, José Martí, Antonio Machado, Federico García Lorca and Dante Alighieri.

Andalusian Patio​

This patio is a replica of the famous patios of Andalusia and was donated by the city of Seville to Buenos Aires in 1929. For its construction, all the materials were brought from Spain. The patio is made up of a gazebo with a fountain in the center surrounded by benches, decorated majolica, wisteria plants and orange trees.

Boat and pedal rental​

A rowing and pedal boat rental concession operates at Lake Rosedal . These boats can be rented for 30 minutes or 1 hour, it is a good option to see the place from another perspective.

Sívori Museum​

The Eduardo Sívori Museum of Plastic Arts is located in front of Lake Rosedal. In its rooms, works by important national and foreign painters are exhibited. Address: 555 Infanta Isabel (in front of the Greek Bridge). Hours: Tuesday to Friday from 12 to 8 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Closed Monday.
