The national government approved the 12 percent salary increase for permanent and non-permanent state employees . The previous month they had received a 16 percent increase.

Through decree 206/2024, published this morning in the Official Gazette , the Executive made effective the increase in the salaries of State workers that had been agreed days ago. This increase is effective as of February 1.


“The gross monthly, normal, habitual, regular and permanent remuneration of agents authorized to perform extraordinary services, with the exception of services required by third parties, must not exceed the amount of $488,967 as of February 1, 2024,” it clarifies. the notice.

In addition, it specifies that this 12 percent increase will be transferred to the salaries of the higher authorities of the jurisdictions, entities and organizations of the Executive Branch, unlike the increase granted the previous month, and also extends to the civilian personnel of the Federal Agency for Intelligence (AFI) .


On the other hand, it establishes the remuneration of national resident professionals who work in health institutions that depend on the Ministry of Health and in the SAMIC “Professor Dr. Juan P. Garrahan” Pediatric Hospital . In this way, a chief resident will receive 920,610 pesos, while a fourth-year resident will receive 860,233. According to the salary scale, a first-year resident will earn 698,118 pesos.

This is the second increase in the year that State workers receive, since in January the sector received an increase of 16 percent, applicable to the approved monthly, normal, habitual, regular and permanent salaries in force as of December 31, 2023.

The announcement of this increase was made by the Minister of Economy, Luis “Toto” Caputo , who published the result of the state joint vote on his Twitter account and clarified that “the increase will not apply to ministers, secretaries and undersecretaries, who do not "They will receive no increase, which will result in a 20% drop in real wages." “Nor will the President and Vice President collect it,” he indicated on that occasion.

The news came the same day that the General Confederation of Labor (CGT) carried out a strike to reject the Decree of Necessity and Urgency (DNU) and the Omnibus Law that at that time was being debated in Congress. Despite having reached a joint agreement, the State Workers Association (ATE) adhered to the forceful measure, alleging that the agreed increase “is not enough to modify the decision to go on strike.”


Simultaneously, the national government made official the salary update of administrative, teaching and cultural positions belonging to the national administration through decree 207/2024.

In this sense, it established the monthly remuneration as of March 1 corresponding to the positions of rector ($123,177.40), regent ($108,206.80) and practical work assistant ($65,822.05) of the National School of Librarians of the National Library .

In turn, it established a new value for the additional remunerative and modifiable positions held by teachers and janitors of the Higher Institute of Radio Education (ISER) , which will be $4,161 for teachers and $30,895 for janitors.

Within the same regulations, the new amount of the teaching hour of the different jurisdictions of the central administration was made official, which will become 4,797 pesos starting in March.

The Executive also modified the remuneration of the members of the board of directors of the National Fund for the Arts , an organization dependent on the Ministry of Culture , which operates under the orbit of the Ministry of Human Capital , setting this sum at $366,109.

Meanwhile, it established the value of the additional remuneration for services in Antarctica at $853,758 in the terms provided for in Law No. 23,547 for military personnel.
